Just bought the pistol yesterday and noticed what seems to be a chunk of missing metal, but it looks smooth, which makes me think it's normal, is it? It is on the left side rail. The right side rail does not have this.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! I thought the same thing. The first time I field stripped my CW9. I soon discovered all Kahr pistols are missing the same chuck.

It's normal. I think someone said once it's used as a guide mark or something like that during the manufacture of the frame. You're gonna love tht gun.

Welcome to the forum! I, too, am a new CM9 owner. I will be going to an indoor range about 35 miles away next week to begin breaking mine in. I am hoping to have perfect success like just about everyone is having with these great little guns!
If you do a search for the string in quotes below and choose the thread with that exact name, you can click and see a photobucket slide show of mine. It is custom mirror polished, smoothed and melted for easy carry. It is gorgeous!

My PM9 doesn't have that chunk missing!
Oh wait, yes it does. :) Welcome to the forum! You'll love the PM9. Best sub-compact I've ever fired.

That chunk is really in the dust cover guide, not the load bearing slide guide anyway.
