Thought this might be a good thread for PM9 owners who have issues with a round nose diving when you sling shot it.

To date, I have no ammo that this does not happen with and was hoping through this forum that we could perhaps come up with a list that is less likely to have this problem.

For the record, I've tried Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST, and Remington Ultimate Home Defense.

If you have one that seems to work well, please list it here.

Speer Gold Dot +P 124gr. Great stuff.

Works with sling shot method?

Works with sling shot method?

Yes, though the PM9 is not "designed" to be sling-shotted. After chambering my Speer Gold Dots that way a few times, I can see how the tips of the hollow points are getting "squashed" a bit from the feedramp.

I've never had a problem 'sling-shotting' any of my Kahrs, including the PM9. Are you sure you're not riding the slide or not pulling it completely rearward?

Remington Golden Sabers have the reputation for being the easiest HP to chamber. I use these along with HST 124 gr.

My PM9 slingshots the Hornady 124gr Custom XTP and the Hornady 115gr Critical Defense FTX perfectly...100% so far and I haven't made any follower modifications.

I tried sling shotting my CM9 today with HST. It worked. I just tried it once before going back to slide lock release, though.

You probably won't find something that will work 100% of the time with the slingshot method. Just use the slide lock the first time and you'll be fine. If you need to reload, the slide should be locked back automatically, assuming you kept your thumb off the slide lock.

Hornady Critical Defense. The bullet is shaped more "pointy" and in my PM9 chambers when the wider Gold Dots wont.

I've loaded HST 124 +P rounds with the slingshot method for testing. It nosedived about 1/3 of the time. Not something I'd rely on, as I must not be good at releasing the slide that quickly by hand.

It may have already been said, but if your ammo feeds fine when you drop the slide using the slide release, and misfeeds when you slingshot it, it's obvious you are not slingshotting it properly. That's why Kahr makes using the slide release almost a requirement instead of a recommendation.

And it is not good practice to chamber the same round too many times, as even the best loads will eventually have the bullet driven deeper into the case, causing a failure when you least need it.

I've never had a misfeed in my PM9, even slinghotting, using Winchester 115 FMJ, CCI Blazer 115 FMJ, Federal 115 FMJ, Winchester Ranger 127 and 115 +P+ JHP, Speer Gold Dot 115 +P+ JHP, and Federal 115 +P+ JHP.

I load Federal HST 147g +P the way Kahr recommends. Hitting the slide release and letting her slam forward.
No problems with the hot and heavies outta the awesome CM9.

100% functionality, every time, using the Hornady 115g Critical Defense FTX. Just one of the reasons I like that SD round.
