Let's see, he shot the one NOT pointing a gun at him, comes back while the kid is unconscious and posing no threat and calmly shoots him 5 times at point blank range. Yeah, I'd say he crossed the line. It's people like this that give everyone carrying for defense a bad name.

I have to agree with the Jury on this one.

Do you feel his punishment is a correct one?

For cold blooded murder? I would say so.

The video stops about half way thru for me but as sad as it is I think the judgement is sound. I suspect he got caught up in the moment felt the victory of living thru it and then crossed over the line. He obviously had plenty of time to think thru his actions and made the wrong choice.
Sadly he'll probably get the full meal punishment where real bad guys will slip thru the cracks and get a hand slap and probation.

The man has received tons of support, nothing here for him? So if a guy breaks into your house, rapes your wife and you pull on him and the forensic pathologist determines that the first rnd that hit him was not enough to kill the guy but enough to disable him and his death resulted from subsequent rnds, you can and should be held for murder?

Did you watch the video, knkali?
First, he shoots the guy not holding the gun (stupid, but legal)
Then he runs after the guy with the gun, firing the rest of the rounds in the gun at him on the street (very stupid, and very NOT legal)
Then he calmly walks by the kid on the ground, goes behind the counter, retrieves another gun, walks back over to the kid, leans over, and puts five rounds into him (do I have to say it?)
A bit of a different situation than you describe.
Edit, I just checked the video at your link and it does stop half way through. This one will play: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20066839-504083.html

Watching the full video that's pretty blatant and premeditated overkill no matter how I look at it. The video of course is what put this guy in prison.
The rape scenario isn't even on the same planet with this situation.
The guy actually looked like he enjoyed it if that's possible.
Had the guy shot the guy 5 extra times, then went after the other guy, that would put a whole new light on things but the sequence is just wrong.

I read you guys loud and clear and agree. I am just pok'n around to see if there is a modicum of any support for this man like others seem to have.
