I took my NIB PM9094NA to the range today to break it in.
I fired 425 rds. of various 9mm ammo which included the following:

Win. 124 gr. NATO spec dated 2001 – 100 rds.
Win. 147 gr. SXT HP – 50 rds.
Win. 147 gr. FMJ – 46 rds.
Speer Gold Dot 124 gr. +P Short Barrel – 60 rds.
Federal 124 gr. +P EFMJ – 50 rds.
My reloaded 124 gr. FMJ (Win. Bullet) loaded to ball dup velocities 79 rds.
My reloaded 125 gr. Sierra TM loaded to lower match velocities. – 40 rds.

The little pistol ran 100% for the first 200 or so rounds and then…one of my 6 rd. mags split down the back on both sides!

Then, slightly over 350 rds., a second 6 rd. mag split in the same manner!!

Neither mag would go into the mag well so they were toast!!!

I had no other malfunctions of any kind. I did not clean the pistol or re-lube it during the entire session. I wanted to see if it would run after being shot and shot to dirty…it did.

I had to move the rear sight slightly to the left to be POA, POI.

As soon as I got home, I called Kahr to see what I had to do to get the two mags replaced. I have to say right up front, I’m not a real patient person at times and the wait time to speak to a real person at Kahr was ridiculous. They are sending me a FedEx call tag because they want the pistol and the two split mags back to check everything out. Now the pistol will be tied up for 1-2 weeks.

I’m not real happy about the mags splitting and the pistol being tied up at Kahr.

The accuracy out of this little pistol was quite good. I’ve included a couple of my targets.

I shot rather fast. Not slow fire and maybe a tad quicker than timed fire would be. I did a few controlled pairs @ 15 yds. to test the trigger re-set.

Here are the two split mags.

thats a real shame, but evidently they think it must be gun related, so bit the bullet and let um have it back.
That is damn nice shooting, If I was close I would loan u my PM9 until it gets back.

those are indeed bad splits. I find it hard to think it is bad metal. I wonder wha tin the slide area is pounding those mags like that. Two in a row doesn't sound like only mag issues.. again IMO that is awfully good shooting. I would be honored to post a photo like that but all I can post is my one shot groups and nobody seems interested in those.

I hate those bad guy hostage type targets. if u know what I mean:D

Wow! I can understand why Kahr would want to check things out.

Is that blood I see on one of the magazines?

By the way very nice shooting.

Bill;

Sure is blood. One of the lips on one mag is rather sharp and I cut my thumb early on. I will clean it off before sending it to Kahr. :D

I have read A LOT of stuff here on this forum, but this is a first. Please let us know what Kahr says about it and what they do/fix/replace...etc.

oh it has happened before, more on the kahr 45 than the PM series. 40 cal kahrs had some issues to. My P380 one of the first 125 made had one bad mag, and I had read at that timneof otrhers having busted mag in the 380. Have no clue as to what is causing it. I want to say bad metal but this sh-t should have been solved by now..

Sure will. I'll post every detail on how they handle this.

I'm more than a little pissed at the fact that two out of five magazines for a pistol with an MSRP of $958.00 split on the first range session and now the whole thing has to go back.

The guy that I spoke with in CS didn't seem too concerned or interested. He just took my info and said they would send a call tag. I was under the impression that the call tag would be sent via e-mail today but nothing yet.

When the gun and replacement mags come back, I'll go to the range again and shoot the crap out of it and hope that the mags don't split again.

I sent in the warranty card the day after I bought the pistol but they don't have it in their system yet.

more than likely the guy in cs hasn't a clue as to what is goingon, I think I would send all my magazines in with it . I am leaning more towards a gun related issue than the actual mags , but again, I lean alot at my age. My wife is about 6" inches shorter than Iam but I see whenI get in thecar after she drives irt that Ihave to readjust my mirror DOWNWARD.

FWIW and to be perfectly honest, I'm really liking this little pistol. It sort of takes me back to my revolver days when I started out in LE...a long time ago.

However, I can't trust it for CCW until it runs 100%.

I ran one 6 rd. mag of the Win. Ranger T-Series 127 gr. +P+ thru he PM9. The recoil was stout but manageable. Accuracy @ 15 yds. was on a par with the other ammo that I fired. I don't think it's required in this pistol.

I will most likely use the Speer GD Short Barrel 124 gr. +P stuff for my carry load.

There are probably a 100K of PM9s out there doing the right thing, u got either bad ass magazines or something seriously wrong with the gun causing it.

Keep the faith and it will get right. I know it is frustrating to and maybe easy for me and others who are enjoying their PM9 and u are not..
