If it's the only way you can carry... fine. At least your armed.
But, honestly, I would not consider a fanny pack as "concealed" carry.

I used an EX large Eagle with my 4 inch 38 oz 629 44 Mag for a few years.
Then switch to a large DeSantis with my Sig P220 for a few more.

Up side:
They are very comfortable with just about any gun and extra ammo.
You can dump your keys, cell, knife... in there too and empty your pockets.

Downside:
These days lots of people know what it is (you're armed).
I was mistaken as an off duty cop on occasion.
You lose major style points and look ridiculousness in nice clothes.

I never use one these days

really you think most know you are armed? I recon gun people know but the average street hood under 30 knows?

I have one that I picked up a few years ago at a huge air conditioned indoor flea market in North Georgia. The cheapest I have seen anything comparable is starting at $20, but I paid $3 for it! It is made of black nylon with a cell phone pocket sitting to the right of the main pack. The cell phone pocket has a Velcro fastened flap closure. The main pack has 4 zippered compartments: a thin card pocket on the front which is large enough to hold my change purse, a full size second compartment just deep enough for my wallet, a full size third compartment that is about an inch deep and perfectly sized to hold my CM9 sitting at an angle, and a fourth compartment on the back that is long and thin. It has an adjustable nylon belt. All of the zippers operate very smoothly. And, with the cell phone pocket to the right, the main pack is positioned to the left, ideally suited for my left hand draw! Being severely handicapped, I use electric scooters when shopping in stores, and have a folding travel scooter that I use for outings. So, having everything, including my gun, right there in my lap is so convenient!

I've tried a bunch, but the Tommy's Original Gun Pack is the best I've found. Check them out. Large, medium, small. If you have any questions about sizes and what they hold PM me.

why do you feel this one is the best. I believe that you have to unbuckle the flap to get to the gun. It is not a tear away--correct?

I too got a Tommy's Original Gun Pack: http://www.tommysgunpack.com/ (http://www.tommysgunpack.com/)

I got it before I obtained my Kahr CW9, when my only carry option was a full sized Beretta 92FS. That's way too much iron for comfortable IWB CCW in my opinion. A fanny pack was the only realistic option. (Although I do concede that I lost valuable man-points in style. Just sayin’.)

And no, you don’t have to unbuckle a flap. They have a patented system where you simply grab the corner and pull: two zippers unzip in parallel (one horizontal and one vertical) to reveal a hidden separate compartment. Very clever.

As fanny packs go, I agree with HadEmAll that this is the best on the market: good concealment, very simple and rapid access to your weapon, quality materials and stitching, and made in the USA. What’s not to love?

I also later picked up a range bag from them. Again, well made with quality materials.

If you want to go this route, be sure and sign up for their mailing list. They offer deals every couple of weeks at prices not otherwise posted on their web page. I got a good discount that way on both of the items I purchased.

see what I mean about the buckle pull? Looks like could be a problem with gloves on and or with the adrenalin dump.

That guy did a poor job selling the gun pack. He wore it too big and bold. I carry mine under an untucked shirt, and it is much less conspicuous. He was also doing it slow motion on purpose. I never use the off hand to open it, though you see it can be done. Could you use your weak hand to get your pistol out of a IWB holster? Much easier in this gun pack. With adrenalin rush what's going to keep you from grabbing your shirt instead of your handgun? Practice, just like you will with this.

I use my strong hand. Your hand as it dangles is just inches from the buckle. You just really have to touch the buckle (you learn how real quickly). The word "unbuckle" isn't really appropriate. Don't compare these buckles to shoe buckles for example. The zippers offer no resistance at all. The gunpack really kind of springs open. Afer it springs open, your hand is right at the butt of the gun. No straps, etc to have to manipulate.

You say GO, I can have my pistol aimed at you in 1.5 seconds. You don't have to reach BACK, your access is right where your hand is dangling.

I've had Bianchis, a Galco, and other generic gun type fanny packs, and this is the fastest and easiest to access. The buckle is much easier to find and access than some dangling cord. It also positively prevents the gunpack from creeping open at the corner like the cord actuated ones will on occasion.

I do have a couple of KaBars for some of my smaller pistols. They are nice also, but not as good as the Tommy's.

Since I started carrying in 1996, I tried all the other methods. This is the fastest, most secure, most comfortable, way I've found.

Be advised that the gunpack WILL wear eventually inside where the sights/hammer contact the material. I have a cobbler in my area that has gotten very good at sewing small leather patches in those areas on mine. I've probably got at least 20 of them, large, medium, and small. Just talking Kahr, the PM9/PM40 will work in a small. The CW40 needs a medium. All mine are black, teal green, or digital camo. They have a variety of other colors.

As aray says, I've never paid full price for one. They are always running half off sales. I bought my first one from Wilson Combat back when they were a little cheaper.

The question I've always wondered. Why do they call it a Fanny Pack if it's worn in the front and not the back?

Fanny pack
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The name "fanny pack" is derived from the fact that they were traditionally worn facing the rear above the ********, for which "fanny" is a slang term in the United States. Despite the name, many do not wear fanny packs on their rear because they are easier to pick pocket and harder to access. In the United Kingdom and Anglophone Oceania, the term "bum bag" or "belt bag" is used, since the word "fanny" means vulva, rather than ********, in those countries.
Fanny packs reached the peak of their popularity in the late 1980s and early-to mid-1990s. Today, fanny packs are considered to be a fashion faux pas.[1] Musician "Weird Al" Yankovic mocks the wearing of fanny packs in his song "White & Nerdy." Many consider the fanny pack a sure mark for an out-of-place tourist, invoking the traditional tourist stereotypes known around the world, also worn by older people.
The handiness and ease of opening of fanny packs has also resulted in them being used as holsters for handguns. Many manufacturers make fanny packs that are designed for concealed carry.[citation needed]

Guess it's too late for any advice?
But my DeSantis had a specific place designed to hold a second mag.
That's a sweet option to have...

really you think most know you are armed? I recon gun people know but the average street hood under 30 knows? At the typical Summer art fair or food festival, these are common on men and women. As long as you don't have a Drill Sgt. haircut and look about you, very few people will suspect. Having a wife & kids or GF along helps with the deception. It may vary by region but I don't think a fanny pack screams "GUN!"

Actually it has provision for a spare mag. It velcros inside where the holster is.

Agreed! I think a fanny pack screams "dork" way more than it screams "gun". Yeah, I use one now & then. I think they are good way to carry.
