I was at my Dr.'s office the other day, and he said this new Obama-care crap has him asking some new questions to all his patients, one that made me leery was "Have you been feeling depressed or sad in the last year", I answered no of course.
I think this is all leading up to the Govt. getting our medical records, and going through them and eliminating a lot of CC permits. I bet anyone who was diagnosed with depression, or being angry at someone, or is on anti-depression or other "head meds" is going to lose their CC permit. I think I'm going to get screwed over because of some meds I'm on because the chemo I went through caused depression, it says right on the fact sheet that you should take some kind of anti-depressant with the crap. So I got put on anti-depressants. It also caused some chemical imbalances at the time that had to be treated with some other type of "head med".
That was years ago, but I suspect once you've been diagnosed with depression, that's it for your CC permit. Perhaps being on certain other meds will also get you put on "the list". I'm thinking anything that has a depression warning on the fact sheet. Pain meds probably. Who knows what else.
Dr. also asked stuff about if I'd had sex in the last year, and how often I wore protection, and some other stuff I don't remember some kind of personal, some not.
Thought I'd give a heads up to everyone. There was an email going around not long ago about the VA asking some of these questions, and if you answered yes to some of them, they would yank your CC permit for being mentally unstable. I don't know if that is true or not, but I wouldn't put it past the Govt. to use a back door method to take away more of our rights.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, like this going on in Michigan.

Some people may tease you and say you`re ready for an aluminum foil hat but I`m not one of them. Not for this anyway. When it comes to the government intruding into a citizen`s life,I don`t put anything past them.I hope that your fears prove to be unfounded but it wouldn`t surprise me if they were spot on.

+1 for Dietrich All you have to do is read 1984 by Orwell. I can remember everyone saying they aint putting cameras by me. Well they were right, we are putting are own cameras in and putting them on the internet. By the way my doc, a fairly young guy says he pays for all his medical stuff cash, that way there doesnt have to be a record.

A Rep in my state proposed a backdoor way to link mental health records with CCW permit holders many years ago. He was so soundly trashed by his fellow Reps he never even wrote the proposal down. Fortunaley he was voted out at the next election cycle for other things, but gone he is.

My doc specifically said these questions were part of Obama-care. Otherwise why would he care if I had sex in the last year, or some of the stuff he asked. He said the reason was to make sure people are getting the treatment they need and to go into some database to see how healthy we are living. This just happened last week, so it may be showing up soon in other places. When he mentioned a database, my ears really perked up. I don't like the sounds of that.

Rainman, have you been to the Dr. in the last couple weeks? Know anyone that has?
I was at a specialist just last month, and they didn't ask anything like that. I'm thinking it must be a pretty new thing. The stuff he asked wouldnt seem like the stuff a lawyer would have him asking. They also could have been singling me out since I had depression in my history. Maybe they only ask certain people with certain conditions. Who knows.
I just googled "Doctors asking obamacare questions" and this thread came up in the results. Not sure I like that.
I screw with the doc all the time.
She says "have you ever had a colonoscopy ?" I say "I got one for a wedding gift, but it didn't match the furniture, so I returned it".
She says "have you been depressed lately?" and I say "lets stick to the pneumonia doc"
She says "you need to get a full blood workup" and I say "I'm here to have a sebaceous cyst drained".
Which is why I love my cats' vet. He practices good medicine. I always learn something from him every time I'm there, and he practices good, old fashioned, common sense medicine with the cats. He's a cat man, does large cat (aka tiger) meds too.
I wish I could find a human doc that would practice human medicine like my vet practices for the animals.

You missed an opportunity. "I only get depressed when I see Obama on stage. How the XXXX did this country elect such an idiot telling us he was for "hope and change". At this point, I think most Americans just hope they have enough change in their pockets to ride the bus."
Dr. also asked stuff about if I'd had sex in the last year
Again, you miss the opportunity. Look the doc straight in the eyes and ask, "Are you offering?:blushing:" Try to keep a straight face long enough that the doctor becomes uncomfortable.

The questions caught me off guard. I was totally unprepared for them, and after hearing about the VA asking those types of questions and folks losing the CC permit, whether truth or fiction, I got pretty serious and thought about my answers. Took me out of a joking mood that's for sure.

It's been thirteen months since my last Annual Physical. Because I have diabetes, my doc always (well, five years running) asks if I have any ED symtoms and offers Cialis or Viagra. He has never asked when I last had sex. Maybe the smile on my face is enough for him.:) He has never asked about my Mental Health either.
I had a more recent visit, probably in February. Nothing unusual there either.
I spent a lot of time learning what was in the Bill we call Obamacare for work. This line of questioning wasn't mentioned. I'm due for another physical and I will ask. I have a great relationship with my Doc. My GF goes to him too and hasn't said there is anything new afoot. She also works in Customer Service for Blue Cross. Nothing there either.
The reason I brought up the lawyer, is that the Doc can put in his patient visit notes that he asked and it covers his rear if you do anything unusual.

Are you on Medicare? I suspect they (CMS) are asking Docs to certify that they are investigating your total health, it may be necessary to get payment and is recently being policed. Medicare wants to be sure they are getting full value. Nothing to worry about.
The questions suggest to me that the Doc is thorough. He should be asking about your mental and sexual health.

i dont even go to the doctor, or allow vaccination shots or any of the other drugs they cram down the publics throats.
i dont trust them as far as i can throw them. if i go to a doctor, its because something is seriously wrong.
i'm perfectly healthy. in fact, i haven't had so much as a head cold in 2 or 3 years, and haven't been bedridden sick in 6 or 7.

Doc: "Have you been feeling depressed or sad lately?"
Patient: "Only when I think about Obama and the rest of the government and the mess that they are getting us into."
Doc:" Have you had sex in the past year?"
Patient: "Uh......... if I say no can you write a prescription for that?"

Yes, I am on Medicare, perhaps that was it. I think what happened was I asked him how this Obama-care stuff was affecting him and he said something like well, I do have some new questions for you the government wants me to ask, so I guess it could been medicare. I have a good repoire with my Dr. so can pretty much ask him anything. He recently bought a Sporster, so I gave him my HD hydration vest that was too big for me, for hot days. Those things are great if you ride in hot weather.
They are like a vest full of those cool-dana crystals that soak up water and release it slowly as you ride keeping you cool.
I have to go back next month for test results, so I'll ask him if the questions were from obama-care or medicare or my other insurance, or what.

When Medicare pays for certain things, be it a Routine Physical or something else, there are guidelines of what must be done in order to qualify for payment. If he forgets to ask you to cough, he isn't thorough, same for the questions. If he submits and certifies a service, he'd better have notes in his file in case he's audited ( just ask his lawyer).
