Hi everybody,
I am fairly new to this forum. I have been reading posts for about a month. That reading and other research convinced me to order a CM9. I am just getting back into regular shooting after finding out My wife has MS so it is something we can both do together and that we live a block from out LGS. I also recieved my CCW from VA and currently carry a Phoenix Arms HP22A.

I have read the Prep info and printed it out for when my gun arrives. I have most of the supplies mentioned already available. I have a few questions though.

What do you use to do the polishing with? When I was in the Navy we polished everything with Brasso. Is that the type of polish I should be using or something else.

I won't be getting this immediately, but what are you thoughts on the LaserLyte rear sit lasers? They look a lot better to me than the slide/trigger guard mounted ones.

My gun has been on order for 2 weeks, any guesses as to how long the backoreder time is now?

We currently own a Phoenix Arms HP22A and a Heritage Arms Rough Rider 22 LR and am borrowing/evaluating a freinds Browning BDA380. The Browning is nice but the first time I took it to the range I was all over the place. I think is was that the weight and grip wasn't comfortable. I will have to try it some more.

I am still trying to decide on the type of holster I want. I bought a knock-off Belly-band for $10 to try. I figure the way I am normally dressed I will need either an IWB, pocket holster or a real BellyBand.

Well, now that I have bored you to death. I would like to say this forum has been a great help in my decision as to what to buy and how to get it ready.

Unless your LGS is a big volume dealer, you need to be prepared to wait for a while. Dealers such as Bud's Gun Shop in Lexington KY have them in stock and will ship it to your LGS for pick up. Bud's price is $430 shipped to your FFL. Your dealer may charge a fee of around $30 to transfer the weapon to you.
I am not certain what it is that you wish to polish unless you intend to get a high gloss or chrome like finish on the slide. If so, you will work yourself to death using Brasso. To do this properly you will need buffing compounds and good buffing wheels. I would suggest that you have this done by a professional unless you are skilled and have proper equipment.
I can't speak to the LaserLyte as I use the Crimson Trace lasers because they seem brighter to me and the location of the lens would seem to need constant cleaning from muzzle blast. However, I will agree that the LaserLyte design is good and keeps the lines of the gun in tact.

Ramble on my friend - LOL!
DeSantis Super Fly or Nemisis holsters are both inexpensive and super IMHO. BellyBands suck (that's a technical term). IWB sometimes needs 1 inch wider belt/pants. I really recommend front pant pocket carry - especially if you're on a budget.

Should be able to pick up a Nemisis for 15/20 bucks.
You'll be very happy with it.

welcome to the forum... no clue how long it will take to get in from being back ordered... I guess that depends on the supplier you are getting it from. I know that budsgunshop.com usually has them in stock and if you pay with a credit card and pick a ffl on there site that is already on file you receive the firearm the same week. What are you trying to polish the feedramp or the slide... if you are polishing the slide go with mothers mag and aluminum polish imo.... Carrying it is all personal preference, but if you carry iwb, i'd look at crossbreed, kholster, don hume, Mitch Rosen ect.... Best of luck to you!

WELCOME!

Not sure what you want to polish? Didn't have to polish anything on my CW9, just initial clean, lube and shoot.

+1 on the pocket carry. My CW9 carries very well in my right front pocket for most of my pants and shorts. And.... here's the big thing.....I can draw it out of my pocket faster than IWB. Just sits at the right height for me.

Enjoy the gun when you get it.

1+ on the draw. It's amazing how fast pocket draw can be.
Also, when I sense potential danger, it's cake just slipping my hand in my
front pocket "ready to draw". And nobody sees a thing...

Thanks for the info. The polishing I was refering to was the feed ramp. After more searching I found reccomendations to Flitz, Simichrome, etc. Also, I was reading at the bottom of the Prep sticky about the magazine not letting the slide lock back. After reading better they were refering to a CW9.

The in pocket holster sounds good, I will have to find somewher to try one.

Hopefully my LGS can get my gun soon. The reason I didn't order online was the feeling of having bought it locally and having local support if there is a problem.

necessarily so, that magazine thing is in all kahrs, most never have that issue but it is so easy to check out when doing yo9ur prep, so IMO why not check it out, if u have that follower hangup just do what is suggested and you willbe gopod to go. Why to out and do your break in stuff and maybe have this to happen. You need totake the magazine apart IMO anyway just tocheck to sdee that indeedthey got it allin right with mag spring orikented the right way, ...

The cm9 and PM9 being the same exact size andkahrs smallest 9mm. is ideal for pocket carry. The above mentioned desantis and uncle Mikes pocket holsters are very cheapin price and they both cover the trigger area so you have a totally safe carry place, Mine u, not a fast draw area but consider that no special dress is required to carry this way, so u will carry it more often, IMO...Rides in my jeans every day,...

Thanks for all of the feedback. I will be sure to do all of the prep and polish suggestions. I will wait until I get the gun for a pocket holster and whether or not to get a laser quickly.
