My new CM9 should be in next week and I read that it is +P rated. My normal carry ammo in my G19 has been Winchester Ranger 115gr T Series +P+. Has anyone here seen or read anything about using +P+ ammo in the Kahr barrels. I believe +P 9mm runs at 38,500psi where +P+ is just over 42,000psi or 17% higher. I've searched this site and the internet and couldn't find any good info on the subject.

for me if I want to shoot +P+ in a 9mm, I would just go up to the 40 cal and forget it. Kahr doe snot recommend +P+. From what I read, there is really no industry standards for +P+ ammo, so maybe that is why many say NO. I have no doubt your kahr will shoot +P+ ammoif thatisd ur desire, especially if it is going to be ur carry defense stuff, Were not talking about a 1000 rounds of +P+ ammo. Costr would be very high for basic range fodder. Just my twon cents worth.

The early K9s were rated for +P+ but Kahr changed their ratings to +P. This occured prior to polymers frames being offered I believe. As in almost any modern, quality pistol, wear and tear is accellerated by higher pressure ammo. A small amount will do little harm, but a steady diet will wear out your gun, especially the springs, quicker.

maybe thatis why wolff's offers heavier springs for their K9 and K40, and even the PM series.

I read somewhere where a poster said that +P+ in glocks is fine but expect shorter life, from maybe standard 300K rounds down to maybe 150K. Big fokking deal.

I always felt that is what they made "parts" lists for, U replace worn or broken parts with new ones and just continue on with life.

I practice with standard or hand loads but always run enough SD ammo through a new pistol to know it is reliable with each load, then I periodically run a mag of SD ammo through just to make sure nothing has changed. I'm not too worried about overworking my equipment because if they are going to fail I'd rather have it happen on the range than in a dark parking lot. Besides, they are built to be shot and I enjoy running them. Abusing them though is another issue.

Onme thing we never know is that whether that next round be it a standard load, +P or +P+ is going to fail. So for me keep the gun in good condtion with good springs and lubed properly and then just shoot it like u stole it. I never read of to many guns failing due to ammo...

I would venture to say that 90% of shooters do not shoot +P+ ammo, so for most it is a mute point anyway..
