Hey all, new kahr owner, been scanning these forums for about a month, since I decided to take the plunge. Thanks to everyone who put together the prep and lube stickies, that was a huge help! I was gonna stop at 100 today but it was going so well I just figured why not shoot all four boxes and see if it hiccups... Well about round 150 or so I had a nosedive, but would you believe I called it when I put the mag in? The second round was sitting a little nose down, not sure why but the seven rounder felt a little gritty anyway.

Overall I'm very impressed and happy with it. More accurate than I thought I'd be with the short barrel and less recoil than I expected. If things keep going this well this is gonna be a long close relationship :) Thanks to all of you for all the info on this site

Welcome. If you ever run into any issue which you probably wont just ask and one of the helpful folks will be glad to assist. Also if you like frivolous nonsense there is some of that here too. keeps it kind of informal.

Welcome to the forum MikeG!

Depending on how much black soot your ammo produces, it is often surprising how quickly carbon builds up in Kahr magazines. I have learned that cleaning the magazines frequently and using a dry lubricant very sparingly (wiping off as much as possilbe) helps prevent the magzine issues you observed. Apologies if I am "preaching to the choir" here.

I'll take it apart tonight and see what's up, maybe try to smooth it out a bit. I'll be surprised if it's that dirty but maybe the factory left some gunk in there, I didn't mess with the mags before I shot it. The gun itself had a lot of "crapola" in it tho, like they oiled it right next to the CNC machine or something... Anyway for my first new gun in 10 years, first subcompact, first 9mm, and first polymer pistol, I'm very pleased so far. Even got compliments at the range from a guy shooting a brand new GP-100 .357 who thought I had a .380 til he heard it go off :D

That sounds like a good preventive move.

At the same time, you might want to check to see if there is enough clearance between the magazine follower and the magazine catch. If not, a little sanding on the plastic follower may be in order. Some people experience a "nose dive" by the second or third round as the catch impedes the follower.

In the Kahr-Tech area there is a thread created by Greg: CW45 (and other poly 45): issues and fixes (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1612) that describes this issue and some others that you can ignore. :D

Glad you are having fun at the range!

go to the kahr tech section anbd hit on PROPPER PREPPING OF YOUR NEW KAHR, it will tellu how to look to see if bny chance ur magazine follower is hitting the magazine release leaver It willhappen on some at round 2/3 andu statedyour 7 round mag did this, but one time. so that could also just be an anolomy, but ithis ius easy toe check out and certainly easyt to fix to. I recommend yo do it will allyour magazines, just to eliminate any possables in case it happens numerous times. One tie is really ot indicative of ANYTHING, IMO.

Last update til I get to the range again: I wasn't feeling the follower catch on the mag release but I did notice some marks on the follower skirts from it so I hit them up with some 1000 grit. After playing with some snap caps I think maybe I didn't push the rounds all the way back when loading the mag and they weren't sitting "right"... not cleaning the mags before shooting probably didn't help either... the 7 seems to load more smoothly now. I don't expect any issues next time out... Now about that "bulge"...:D
