Ok guys. This is my first post, first Kahr weapon. I took my new CW9 to the range for the first time a few months back and ran almost 200 rounds w/o any issue. I ran various target and defensive rounds through it as I have heard of certain guns not eating certain ammo. Again, no problems. Last weekend I took it back out and ran 100 rounds of Lawman and Blazer target ammo w/o a problem. When I got to the Rem UMC FMJ I began experiencing problems. The gun would fail to fire w/ a round in the chamber and w/ the slide fully forward. Inspecting the rounds that failed, all of them were w/o a dimple on the primer (so the striker was obviously not hitting the primer right?).
My question is, can it be the ammo (as I hadn't experienced failures until I got to the UMC FMJs)? Or, could it be that there is a problem w/ the striker mechanism? Or something else all together?
Thanks y'all.

Did any other ammo perform satisfactorily AFTER the Remington stuff failed ?
Have you performed the steps as described here:

I don't know about the striker, but I would like to welcome you to Karhtalk. Best gun forum on the net!

I definitely cleaned and lubed the gun prior to firing, but did neglect to clean out the striker mechanism. I have done that now, and hopefully that will address the problem next time I get to the range.
Thx.

If 300 rounds worked perfectly well and then a change of ammo resulted in problems, one would suspect the ammo. I think you will find that the UMC ammo is the problem. I experienced many FTF with that ammo.
Welcome to the forum.

my be tu just got a box of out of spec remington ammo. that stuff will and should work, light strikes could be the gun was not going into full battery and that possable could be that it was a tad to long in OAL and was not allowng the gun to complete its timing sequence, hence light strikes/dead trigger. If it worked with all other ammo then for sure that parrticualr box of remington, there was something wrong with it.

I took the CW9 back to the range today. The gun ran like a champ!...(after hosing down the striker channel area w/ solvent). In fact, at the range I ran almost only Rem UMC FMJ, no failures. Relieved that it wasn't my weapon. Thx guys for the input.

Excellent, another happy ending! Evidently there was just enough stuff in that striker channel to slow things up enough to cause a problem. Perhaps along with slightly hard primers, who knows.
Long as it's found the cure and running we call that success.
Good for you!

Not surprised ... but glad to hear that's what the problem was.
And this is why we have gun forums.
Hope you enjoy the pistol and this gang of gun gurus.:D
