I sent it off to Cold Bore Customs for a grip reduction. Got it back today and took it to the range where the gunsmith put a Ghost Rocket 3.5 trigger in it. Wow! I love this gun again!

Glock Girl strikes again - LOL!

This is my notion of a .45.
Slide and controls were nickle plated at the factory.
I added a Bar-Sto Stainless Steel near match barrel.

Very nice Sig, Barth! Is it single or double stack?

Classic single stack P220.
You and I are of one mind about that - LOL!.

Sig Sauer P220 .45 - single stack
Sig Sauer P239 .357 - single stack
Kahr MK40 Elite 2003 .40 - single stack

She looks mighty fine. We still need a picture of you posing with it. Just put a black bar across your eyes for privacy. It will probably be considered sexy here.:)

On a serious note. Do they ask for any hand measurements? How exactly do they size it so you're happy? If you don't mind, what's the cost on that work. Thank You

Melissa, that is very sharp looking. If you will, let us know how it shoots when you take it to the range.I`m curious to see if you shoot better with it now that you have gotten the work done.I don`t have a problem with the grip on my 30SF but I`m not averse to changing things a bit if it will make shooting the firearm more comfortable.

The smith didn't have anything to measure the trigger pull with but says it feels like it's around 3 lbs. It feels like a huge difference from the stock trigger pull and the reset is a lot shorter. It's still heavy enough for carry and heavier than a 1911 trigger. I'm going to have him do the same work on my G17.

Maybe I'll post a picture one day! :p

They do not ask for hand measurements. There are two options for the grip reduction....standard and extreme. I asked for the extreme. The reduction only flattens the hump on the back of the grip and includes texturing and return shipping. That's $135. Finger groove removal is optional and is $15. Undercutting the trigger guard is $10. So, $160 for all that I had done. I can get a better grip on the gun and feel like the work was worth the price. Turn around time was a little over a week.

I shot it last night. It feels great. The tree bark stippling is more aggressive than the stock grip, but along with the smaller grip, it lets me get a better hold on the gun. I don't feel like it's going to fly or slip out of my hand. I think I did shoot it better.

I believe that started out as 10+1 capacity, is it 5+1 now? I like except the trigger is too light for on old shaky guy like me.

Bawanna

Should still be 10+1. The grip reduction has no negative effect on the capacity or the magazine.

I'd love to feel that trigger, I kind of lean towards your thinking but she says it's heavier than her 1911 which should be 4 to 5 # minimum. Course it has a thumb safety too. I bet it's not too bad. Proper finger control obviously important especially when it's aimed at your foot.

Thanks Bawanna, I was thinking she had the grips reduced to single stack capacity, was wondering how they accomplished that.
I won't carry anything with too light of a trigger anymore, sometimes the problems in my neck cause muscle spasms to run down my arm to my hand. I'd hate to be holding a bad guy at gun point waiting on the cops and have a muscle spasm set off the gun. That's why I find the Kahr trigger system is perfect for me, has a little wriggle room for that type of thing.

It's all reduced front and back. Basically they fill the hollow voids in the factory frame and then reshape getting rid of extra unneeded space. Not sure why they do it the way they do, perhaps the molding process, they all seem to be similar that way.

It does make a huge difference in the feel. We sent all our dept 21's to Robar for texture on all and reduction on many. The grip is much more solid even when wet etc. I did my own, not nearly as pretty but it feels good and with my shade tree bedliner coating it feels even better. I don't hold it much as it resides in a cabinet next to the bed.

I've never held a Glock, but I have small hands so I bet that would be a good thing for me to do if I ever buy one. For some reason I've never wanted one, I think it's the tupperware thing. Now that I have my Kahrs CW's I see it's not such a bad thing after all. Much nicer to carry all day than an all metal gun. I need more practice, I'm afraid in a situation I may revert back to my limp wristing ways in the excitement. One saving thing is the SD ammo seems to run hotter and is more forgiving of my faults.

Yeah, it's still 10+1. I don't think my 1911's are 4 -5 lbs. The Glock was 5 lbs before the trigger job.

The guy that did mine uses a different process that involves heating the back strap and basically mashing it flat. Then he sands off the finger grooves and stipples. Plus, he costs a lot less than Robar.

This is just my opinion mind ya and your a big girl smart enough to make your own decisions but if them 1911's are less than 4#'s I'd be real reluctant to carry them. Not much forgiveness in the best of circumstances and a really light trigger could very well be a bad thing. A range gun only is a horse of a different ancestory but a carry gun needs some resistance.

Your smith should have a trigger gauge, he really should.

I'd really be surprised if your are under 5, unless they been worked on. That out of the box series 70 of yours I'll bet is 6 or more. It might be clean and feel good but I bet it's over 5.

I checked the Glock site The G30 comes with a 5.5 lb trigger pull. Colt doesn't put the trigger pulls on their web site, so I really don't know for sure, but they feel a lot lighter than 5.5 lbs. The next time I'm in a gun shop, I'l have the trigger pull checked. My Colts haven't been worked on.

Glocks are very clear on their pull weights and they are easy to swap. I'm really curious about the pull on them Colts now. Trigger pull can really be a deceptive thing as I found when I put the 5 # striker spring in using a trigger gauge before and after. I could not feel much difference but the gauge don't lie.
I guess my weak feeble point is you really don't want a 1911 or any gun for that matter with too light a trigger for carry purposes, but you already know that.

when I bought my "used" Kimber, it had a 2.2-2.5 lb trigger. It was originally owned by a sheriff's deputy, and I have no idea why he had the trigger dropped so much, unless he shot steel matches. I carried it for quite a while, and it is still the most accurate handgun I own. But, as I get older I realize that 2.2-2.5 lb trigger is just too touchy, so the Kimber just doesnt get carried much. I plan to return it to the 5 lbs it should be.

I have an all Stainless S&W 44 mag M629-2 Mountain Revolver.
Had a trigger job and over travel adjustment installed.
The gunsmith told me he refused to use lighter springs
due to it being too dangerous for self-defense.
That cleaning up the action would be good enough and
the stainless would actually polish its self. The gun would get even smoother over time.

I loved the action initially but after hundreds of rounds SA got so light it was scary.
I stopped letting anyone else fire the gun as EVERYBODY had problems with it.
Took it back to the original gunsmith to have the cylinder tightened and he said the trigger was too light.
Inquired who had performed the action job – LOL!
Double action on the gun is nothing short of epic.
But SA likes to misbehave and has a dangerous mind of its own.

Material is not ground off. They use heat to reshape the grip. I suppose you could say its more dense when they are done.

It's important to use a SCBA, don't want to transmit any of them commutable diseases you get down there in Mexico. Best to be safe. What that has to do with a beard or mustache I'll leave up to the experts.

I'd sure like to get that picture of me off the net somehow. People are using it right and left without my permission and I'm starting to feel like a WWII pinup poster.

So I let the neck hair get a little out of control, could happen to anyone.

Bangs can be beautiful, and I suffer from hair loss in a few places so no harm in making up for it where I can.

That guy was in the news here in Western NC a couple of weeks ago. He had a steady job as a supervisor in the road maintenance department. But he got caught stealing truck loads of gravel and selling it on the side, and keeping his diesel truck running by stealing hundreds of gallons of fuel from unmanned maintenance supply properties which he had keys to. So, he's about as dumb as he looks. Ruined a good, steady gig when far too many people can't find a job.

I have to agree with the thought of having a carry firearm that has a stiffer trigger. I recently changed the springs in my SP101 and when I did I went with the lightest of the set (did the same thing to my GP100). Now in DA mode I believe it is plenty stiff but in SA mode it is a bit light. I did the spring swap partly because the wife was only able to pull the trigger in DA mode about ten times in succession, now she can pull it until the cows come home (slight exageration). On one range trip or another I fired off a round slightly before I was ready, that round was just a bit outside of the bullseye (short range). I did the same thing with a 1911 with a very light trigger.

I have considered a bobbed hammer for the SP101 but I really like having the SA option.

I'm in the same boat with the SP101. It's just too hard for the wife to operate. It's not bad in SA but not too light. I might have to investigate a spring swap myself. Never been inside one, is it a tough thing to do?
My Cbob is the lightest of my 1911's that I've actually measured and its between 4 1/2 and 5. I wouldn't want it any lighter.

Pretty easy if all you are going to replace is the hammer spring. That's what I did with mine. Did not touch the trigger return spring as a lighter trigger return spring slows down the DA. I just cleaned up the channel that it rides in. However, if I remember correctly your SP101 is a 22 caliber. Not sure how light you can go with the hammer spring and still get reliability in touching off the 22 caliber rounds.

Since you already know how to take it apart.....Just remove the hammer spring from the strut and replace with a lighter spring. I used a vise to hold the strut and a fork to remove/replace the spring. Easy peazy.

You can get a revolver shooter's pack from Wolff that has a selection of reduced power springs for pretty cheap. Mine says it's for all calibers so something should work!
