Exactly two weeks to the day, my PM9 with the two split mags came back from Kahr today.
No explanation as to the split mags only that they were replaced. The only comments on the repair sheet were:

Action Raken:
POLISHED BARREL. REPLACED MAGS. LUBED TEST FIRED GOOD.

I reported no problems with the pistol itself so I'm wondering why they found the need to polish the barrel. In fact, I indicated to them in the enclosed letter that the pistol ran 100% with the first 425 rds. put thru it except for the mags splitting.

It appears that they "dressed up" the rear of the bbl. hood.

It's off to the range tomorrow for a test run. ;)

it never hurts to re-polish a feed ramp, probably took kahr 10 seconds and then they can report to you that they actually did something to your gun, even though that could not have been the issue with the cracked mags. So cross ur fingers that it was defective mags...

We shall see tomorrow. I plan on putting 400+ rds, thru it again.
It's all cleaned up and lubed. I will run it the way I did on day one, without any cleaning or additional lube for the entire the range session.
If it runs 100%, I'll accept it. If not...

I had the same issue with my PM40 one of the mags split where the corner is from the side to the rear at the top going down.....called them and they said that the mags are from a outside source and sometimes this happens........I tried to get an extra mag out of them for my trouble but that was a no-go,,,had to send mine in and was sent a replacement...

kahr does not make their magazines. never did.. I want to blieve they have had some bad material in some of the mags, but one never hears of this "much" on other gun forums, so I also wonder whatin the gun is causing this.

I took my PM9 to the range today to determine if any additional mags would split during use.

I'm pleased to report that after 338 rds. downrange, I had no problems at all with the pistol with an assortment of ammo and no additional mags splitting.

This makes 763 rds. in all for two range sessions. I guess the pistol can be considered broken in now. ;)
