One of my friends recently aquired a Kimber full sized 1911, blue, nothing real special, but it's a nice shooting weapon. The original owner paid over $1000 for the gun, my friend has the receipt. It has a few scratch-dings in it, bluing is about 85-90%, but it's very accurate and overall in decent condition, except for the dings.
He wants to get his CC permit and is looking for something more concealable and he mentioned trading it to me for my Dan Wesson Model 14 ,357 with 1 7/8" barrel, plus some cash. The Dan Wesson is about 90% with no dents or dings, just a little wear on the bluing in some spots.
I notice they've been going for around 350 and up on some of the auction sites in similliar shape. Thinking perhaps of offering the Dan Wesson and $125-$150 for his Kimber. Any opinions, sound fair? I just wonder if I'm trading something away that might really go up in value due to them not being made anymore for something that's not very collectable.
Seems like the Dan Wessons keep going up in price while a Kimber, is still in production and I don't think will gain any value unless I have Robar work on it or something. I'll appreciate any and all comments. Thanks
