Ok I posted before I was having recoil spring problems so I called Kahr and they sent me a new one, well I noticed the the spring they sent me was a little larger. I put it in and racked the slide a few times and noticed the spring was binding up again I might just send this thing back I'm getting really frustrated:40:

I am wondering if you have the recoil spring installed in the correct orientation? The closed end of the spring should be installed on the guide rod leaving the open end of the spring toward the muzzle of the gun.

Even the new spring from Kahr binds up the slide I'm going to send it back to Kahr soon I'm so pissed I waited to get it and all it does is bind up so therefor it's back to my trusty Glock 33

I hear that! Kahr installed a new recoil spring when they worked on my PM40. I had to insert an empty magazine and pull with all my might to get it to lock back so I could load it. Fortunately, after shooting a few mags the spring compressed enough that things got back to normal.
I mention this so you that you might remind Kahr CS that you expect to be able to rack the pistol when it comes back and they will trim a little off the new, apparently longer, spring to make racking possible.
Also, when you send it in, unless your dealer does it for you, insist that Kahr provide a prepaid shipping label. Since it's a new gun that's only fair. The label will make the return process much easier because you can drop the gun at any FedEx facility easily.
Kahr prefers that you use the original plastic box and include a written description of the problems you are experiencing. The note will go to the gunsmith doing the work, so mention your performance expectations (racking) etc.
Best of luck! :)

Why all the problems with recoil springs? Have had Glocks and XD's in the past and never had a problem. Have had Kahrs for a couple of years and have not had problems with recoil springs. Are Kahr springs weak or is there a flaw with them--just wondering.

It's not much of a problem, but the recoil springs for the new slide style PM40 seem to be a little longer than before. When brand new, they make it really hard to rack the pistol. After a hundred rounds or so, they take a set and the "problem" goes away.
Still, that's a little discouraging to a new gun owner who may not be very adept at racking to begin with. Oh well.

to tell you this as I am not a fan of cutting recoil springs down but in this case it will work perfect. Many have done it. cut off a quarter coil at a time and test out, once the binding stops, u stop. cut from the open end and always insert towards the front of the slide.
I would almost bet that even the original spring, once in the gun and after 50 rounds will be OK, but IMO it is not worth sending it back either. This is a simple fix and many do it. Kahr uses the same recoil springs for the PM40 as they do the PM9 and we know there is a world of difference in those two calibers.
I think your ok. Kahr recoil springs are strong as hell for no more poundage than they list. I think your PM40 recoil spring is 18# which is about what glocks are also and glocks are a peace of cake to rack.
certainly ot worth sendng the gun back IMO, fix it at home and go out asnd enjoy the gun..
