Just picked up my new CM9. Cleaned oiled and inspected. Shooting tomorrow for the first time (this gun, not a new shooter). Any suggestions? So I am reading some members say 7 round mag = POS. Is that true? I need some more to hang the pinky on. Should I just go with the pearce ext. grip? What about the houge grip? Is it worth it. Thanks

Take it out and shoot it. There are some that have problems with the 7 rounder, but it is not universal. As far as adding grip length to it, I'd have bought a bigger cap gun namely the CW series, then again that's just me. I hear tale that those grip extensions work ok, though some still have problems using long mags, and that's aside from being ugly as all hell (the most common complaint that I see here). There are many things that can be done to negate the cheese grater like grips of a stock Kahr, and those that use the Hogue's say they work well. I kept my P45 stock in that area, but put a limbsaver sleeve on the wife's CW45. I can say that though it adds plenty of meat, it doesn't suck. Again, take it out and put some through it, that's the best way to find what will work for you. Let us know how things go, and we may be able to come up with some good stuff between all of us for the stuff that wasn't quite right. Welcome to the asylum, you'll like it here, and pipe up when you having something to say, it's all good here.

If a man worries about how pretty his gun is, then he is living the good life! I care about two to the chest and ending the threat. But thats just the firearms instructer in me I guess! I had a CW9, and like a dolt I traded in because I never really learned how to shoot it. I went with a LC9 for awhile, and it fit my hand fine I just hated the trigger on it. Saw this puppy and picked it up as soon as they ordered it. Great concealablity (sp?). Thanks for the info, I will put up my thoughts on it tomorrow after range.

Welcome to KahrTalk.

Best of luck with your new CM9. First time out CM9 reports, on the whole, have been very positive, yours will probably be also.

My 7 rounder did have issues and was exchanged by Kahr with a 6 rounder. Plenty, probably most, of folks report no issues with their 7 rounders.

Can't help with CM9 extensions as my three carries (PM9, Glock 26 & P3AT(extension on the P3AT)) are shot with a two finger grip. I've come to prefer the two finger grip with pinky under the butt.

Good luck with your new pistol. I have both the cm9 and cw9. I use the 7 round magazine from the cw9 in the cm9 at the range with no problems. I pocket carry the cm with the 6 round mag.

I had trouble with my CW9 mags in my CM9 during break in. I have not used them since in the CM9..I think my grip was pulling the mag forward and that caused the bullet press against the feed ramp. Causing FTF..Good luck with your new Kahr..

The pierce grip extension worked ok for me.
For IWB carry it provides a better grip to draw the gun a little faster. (for me anyhow)
For pocket carry, it sucks.
Solution:
Two 6 round mags, one with, and one without.
I’ve had good luck with the 8 round mags but can’t speak to the 7 rounders.

2 cents, if you want a bigger grip you should have bought the cw9, the cm9 is a ultra compace 9mm that will do the job right every time. Keep it small, the less hanging out the bottom the beter u are. Some have issues with the 7 round mag sticking out the bottom, ur only talking one more round, carry a spare 6 round flush and be done with it.. One also tend sto shoot a 7 round extendedmagazine differently thana 6round flush fit, all the more reason to stick with what ur gonna carry.

My 7 round mags had the nose dive issue almost every time. I cut the springs down by 2 coils, same as the 6 round mag springs, problem solved. The 7 round springs put far too much pressure on the top round when fully loaded.

I have the similar setup.

I pocket carry with one of the 6 round mags in the CM9. For me, I use a "sticky" pocket holster. Thus, it's easier for me to pocket carry without having the extra length sticking out of the bottom of the grip.

I bought a set of the pierce grip extensions and installed only one of them on a 6 round mag that came with the gun.

For gun range, home protection, and arm rest or glove box carrying in my automobiles, I use the CM9 with pearce pinky extension 6 round mag.

Just got back from the range. Sorry to disappoint but I have nothing to gripe about! Put the pearce extensions on two mags (bought an extra at the range) and went about shooting 100 white box and a few defensive rounds, and not one problem. 7 rounds in 2 inches at 5 yards! Thats as good as I can stroke it. Several draw and fire and body armor drills and I am getting very confident with this little guy. Using the Galco Stinger belt holster and it is ultra lightweight and compact. Not sure about IWB carry, never done that but does anyone have any holster suggestions. I have a little extra around the middle, so that good and bad with inside the waist carry. Suggestions? Comments?

Get a bigger pair of britches, usually two inches bigger than you normally wear, and a good holster (I use a cheap-o from CTD for my P45), then find a spot that's not painful, and start wearing it. After a while, it'll feel right. Personally I prefer tuck-able holsters, but always carry IWB, because I hate playing peek-a-boo with my gun. Many of us have plenty of holsters that didn't work for us. Do your homework on a holster and see if there is some one around whom you could barrow it from for a bit and test drive it if possible.

Man, I like talking Gun with men who know 'em. Thanks for the kind responses. What is it about guns shops that make your wallet lighter? Put something else on the back shelf for myself again today. S&W M&P .45. Swwet shooting unit, for when bigger is better. Cleaned up the CM9 and its ready for off-duty carry!

I've had a hankering for a Smith M&P 45 Compact for awhile now course I've had a hankering for about 10 different 45's lately. I think I'm possessed.

Oh its (CM9) is definetly nice. Guys at the gunshop had never even seen one. They had to order it from the distributor. I found out about by browsing Buds, then did my homework on Gun-Tests and Gunblast. Glad I did. Carried the TCP, but not fond of the .380. 9mm much more punch and NO FTF!

I have shot several of the M&P's. Today I shot the .40 Pro series and the 9mm(c). Both very nice, but I wanted a .45 that I could bump around in the woods if need be. And you can never have to many .45s. Right? All of them are dead on accurate, and easy to hold and fire.

I feel your pain, I've been stuck in Moderator status for almost 5000 post. I was a senior once. I think I'm ready for the next level whatever that might be.

Go Gamecocks, whatever that might be too.

Guess I'd forgotten about that transition, don't remember if it was always that way or not. I know 100 makes ya a senior.
