has anyone given these a whirl? I used the EFMJ in 9mm to great satisfaction in the past. They appear be either the next iteration of EFMJ or a re-branding.

The 9mm load is a re-branding of the old EFMJ 105 grain load painted silver with blue inside.

Nothing wrong with that, but it's nothing new.

I read somewhere online that the bullets are too light and don't achieve good penetration in gelatin (even with the expansion taken into account).

Anyone have any experience with these rounds?
I'm thinking of trying the .38spl rounds for home defense use. At $25/box of 20rds. I can't afford to do a lot of experimenting.

Check out Tom's recent test of the 9mm.

I think they should have left it 124gr back before it got the
"Guard Dog" moniker.

Michael:

Thanks for the link. Excellent video! It explained all of my concerns and a few that I was unaware of. I will be viewing more of his videos tonight.

I really like how softly the 200 grain .45 +p shoots in the P and CW 45s. It's like night and day compared to 200 grain Gold Dots in .45 +p. I hope to switch to Federal HST if I can ever find boxes of 230 grain standard pressure .45, but until then these will have to work since Hornady TAP are all seated too long to chamber in the P45.
