Breaking in a practicing with my new CM9. I am in the process of getting a M&P .45. I am thinking about the next purchase. If it were to be a Kahr, what is the gold standard? What is the model and caliber that Kahr men say is THE one to have?

I would normally say the Pm9 BUT YOU HAVE ITS BLOOD BROTHER, SO U don;'t need that. Kahrs bread and butter gun is certainly the K9. all stainless, super quality,. beautiful gun, shoots super.

hhhmmmm..... the CM9 and the M&P 45...next????

Next should be a good solid .357 magnum wheel gun. Having tried quite a few, I've found my love in the three inch Ruger SP101 for it's overall versatility.

Since you started out the thread with a given "pair", after the .357, if you don't already have a standby plinker - NO handgun collection is even a "collection" without a .22 cal sidearm - your choice of revolver or bottom feeder (or both:D)

You set the rule of buying by the pair:D

Once you get the basic collection consisting of a small, potent concealable handgun, a "duty sized" potent handgun, a utility revolver in a "real caliber", and a decent plinker, you can begin purchasing multiples from your favorite manufacturer.

Then there's rifles and shotguns to consider:)

edit to add.... just read your sig line... you got the basics of my above theory down pretty well.... so....get the K9 before you change your mind;)

K40, has and remains for now a dream gun of mine. I wouldn't mind seeing a CM40, and CM45 too. Hard to go wrong with Kahr's line. Though if they made a K45, and MK45 those would be the gold standard.

This is totally a personal question:
For me, the all Stainless Kahrs (particularly the Elite models) are the gold standard.
On a very personal level my choice is the MK40 Elite 03 Micro w/NS

Although not a Kahr, my first handgun was the Super Mas Macho
44 mag inspired by Clint. (maybe we need a new thread?)

+1 on the SP101. 3" .357 magnum was added after my P380, PM9, M&P 40C and Ultra CDP II.

SP101 is a fine pistol for sure.
My preference is Smith and Wesson though.
I have almost bought a M640 on several occations.
But already having a S&W 342 ti 38 and a M629 44 Mag, it's hard to justify.
(I'll still get one some day though - LOL!)
