I just picked up a new CM9 today, took it home and cleaned/lubed it, then took it to the range.

It was not a good time.

First issue I noticed was that it was shooting very high. Not ideal but not a deal breaker. Sights and shooting habits cant be adjusted and whatnot. It was close enough to point of aim under 20 feet to be usable.

The next issue: Cracked magazine.

The mag that came with it cracked at the bend where the feed lip meets the back of the mag. Please excuse the blurry pics. My phone camera is terrible. This happened about 3-4 mags in. I noticed it because it became very hard to insert the mag. It was already tight and the extra bulge of the feed lip from the crack made it much worse.

I had bought a second mag so I continued my session.

Then I started getting failures to return to battery. It seems to be caused by the end of the recoil spring rod. It is catching on the front of the slide. The first failure I got about 25 rounds in. I did not pay much attention to it as I could not find the ejected cartridge and thought it was probably a bad primer or light strike. I did not get another one for about 75 more rounds. Then they became more frequent. By the end I was unable to go a full mag without it happening. I even stopped to clean and re-lube the gun. It did not help.

The Kahr out of battery:

I also got a couple failures where it was out of battery further back. Not sure what caused those out of battery failures as I am not able to replicate them.

In addition to the out of battery failures, I was also getting failures to feed. The nose of a round would get stuck under the feed ramp. This did not happen with the one brand of hp ammo I shot (about 50 rounds of hst). It seemed to mostly happen with WWB which runs a bit long but did happen less frequently with other brands (rws, ppu, blazer brass, federal).

So, I will be contacting Kahr CS later today. Hopefully they will make it right. If anyone has any helpful input it would be greatly appreciated. I'm having a rather sever case of buyers remorse :(

sorry to hear and see your problems, kahrs need broken in and have some issues but yours definately is not functioning as it should, and a cracked mag sucks!!!!!! not sure the kahrtech section will be much help, best to send it back, its a shame when a brand new device doesn't function as it should, i'm sure it'll function fine when you get it back and then your buyers remorse will fade, for a pistol in this class i'd say the kahr is the best quality for the options imo.

I have a CM9 and it has been 100% for the first 300+ rounds. I had a CW9 before that and it was excellent also. Call Kahr and tell them about your mag and you should get a replacement. Also I would bet if you would send them your PICS they would either send you some parts pronto (maybe a recoil spring) or send you a label to send it in for your fail to return to battery problem. I'm sure Jocko will chime in here in a minute and may have a suggestion or 2. I think Kahr will make it right and Kahr makes a good gun. They are tight boogers though until they are broken in a bit.

Are you sure you put the recoil spring back on the right way, and assembled the gun properly?

Kahr will replace the mag under warranty however, you may be required to send the gun into them for further inspection.
This is what I had to do with a new PM9 with two cracked/split mags on my first range session.
If they ask you to send the gun in, they will send (e-mail) you a FedEx pre paid return label.
Maybe, if they get enough returned cracked/split mags, they will attempt to ascertain the reason why they are doing this.

Yeah, the closed end of the recoil spring is towards the guide rod flange and everything looks like it does in the manual.
