I just found this forum today, fitting since my new CM9 arrived today as well. This is my first Kahr. A little background on me.... I'm pushing the half century mark and have been shooting since I was around 8 or 9 (with dad and uncles). I make holsters for a living and so obviously I like guns, a LOT!

So... not sure why it has taken me so long, but I finally got around to trying a Kahr! I've had several different Glocks... well, Semi auto's of most make I suppose over the years (FFL Dealer too). But like I said... this is my first Kahr.

So, the little brown truck comes and goes today and I do a real quick cleaning of this gem.... well, to be honest, I ran the bore snake down the bbl and then wiped off most excess oil. It looked pretty clean and the rails looked fairly wet so, off I went to the range where I ran 250 rounds through it!

I had the following ammo to try: 100 rounds of Winchester 9mm Nato 124Gr, 50 rounds of Fiocchi 130 gr fmj (real ROUND on the nose), 50 Rounds of Blazer Brass 115 FMJ and 50 rounds of Remington 115gr JHP.

I started with what I figured would be the good stuff... the Winchester 124gr Nato... well, at about round 10 or so.. I got what must have been a failure to fully feed, as when i pressed the trigger, I got the light click... after reviewing the round, the primer had barely been dented. Reloaded that round and it fired fine. About two magazines later, I got a real strange FTF. I've never seen one like this before in all my years! The rear of the round appeared to have came up faster than the front and jammed the gun. (See Pics). I wasn't too excited about this but figured it's the breakin period so lets keep going and see.

After the first box of 50, I tried the Fiocchi..... that ugly stuff ran like clockwork... not a hickup in the whole 50, so i was feeling happy. Next I ran through the 50 Blazer Brass cased rounds... again, not even a little wimper... she ran perfect and by now I was used to the trigger and was doing REALLY well with it. I was falling in love all over again! What a sweet little gun. Ok.... so we're at 150 rounds, doing good. I then tried the Remington JHP's... and well... what do you think happened? Yep.....

FLAWLESS performance..... all 50 ran through this beauty like no tomorrow! I was not shooting at paper, i was shooting at busted clay pigeons, pieces of sticks, quarter sized rocks on the bank, etc. At ranges from 7-25 yards, whatever I aimed for disappeared. I really was very pleased with this little gun, as I had bought it in hopes of replacing my SW 642... I love the 642 for some things, but I just shoot an auto WAY better, way faster and of course being able to reload quickly is always a plus. So, Happy happy was I.

I figured I had a couple hickups at the beginning, but as read on line.... she was broekn in and ready to trust to carry for now. I decided to go ahead and just shoot the last box of Nato stuff before heading home, cuz I really was having fun. Son of a..... first mag and it jammed up again!! Did it one more time in the box of 50 and well, I am pretty sure it hates that ammo. On my drive home, I was thinking.... maybe the Nato stuff is +P+!?!?! Maybe it's too hot for this little thing and that was the problem!!

I'm sticking to the other stuff for practice and until i can find some Hydra shok or maybe Speer short bbl Gold Dots... I'll stick to the Remington JHP.

So, all in all, I love my new Kahr! Problem is..... I think the wife will try and "borrow" it!! If that happens.... I can see either another CM9 or more likely, a PM9 Black w/NS in my very near future!

Enjoy the pics.

Welcome to the forum. It's a great, informative place to hang out. Sounds like your new little gun is breaking in nicely. These very small guns often require a little extra patience getting them broken in and a good first stop is the Kahr-Tech section of this forum. Read through the second and third "stickies", follow those instructions on prepping and lubing your new CM9 and hopefully it will run like a top.

Cheers

I didn't measure them or anything but they both are exactly the same and the ammo is held fine in each. This issue only occured with the Nato ammo... all other ammo and both mags functioned flawlessly. I'm 99% sure its an ammo issue.

i'm noticing a trend, most older gents that have done tons of shooting of all types of guns over the years really like the feel of a Kahr. with a great carry trigger, excellent size and weight, and overall quality whats not to like......

The long trigger pull "may" be harder to learn for a brand new shooter, but then again, maybe not. I got comfortable with it real fast and can shoot really well with this gun.

It's resting peacefully in my front pocket as we speak and tomorrow I hope to make it a couple holsters and maybe a mag pouch too!

By all means, get the latter, but your wife may decide she likes that more. :D

Whatever you want to try for CCW and defensive carry, shoot enough to be satisfied that it works flawlessly. I use Speer Gold Dots... the Short Barrel version for the PM's.

The NATO stuff I wouldn't worry about that. Everything else seems to work.

Good report and pix. Happy shooting and CCW.
