I sent my P 380 to Kahr for service (still under warranty) with the pre paid shipping label they provided by my request. I went to fedex and shipped it over night. I tracked it and it has been delivered and has been there for 5 days.

My question is, is it their normal behavior to not send any emails stating they received it and what is being done?

Many report that they received no notification, it just shows up at your door. A week seem about the normal turn around time. I suspect yours will be hitting the front door next couple of days.

FedEx tracking verified mine was delivered to Kahr four weeks ago today. I hope I get some type of notification before it's returned so there's no problem with return delivery.

Have you called and checked status lately. Seems like way to long without some sort of information. Might not hurt to make sure you didn't fall thru the cracks.

I sent my PM9 back to Kahr over night with the same type pre paid FedEx return label.
I tracked the package and knew that it got there. I received no notification from Kahr.
About 10 days later, I called to check on the PM9. I was told it was in que and to give it another week or so.
The PM9 arrived back via FedEx w/o any notification from Kahr only a couple of days later.
All in all, very good turn around time, two weeks including weekends but mine wasn't any kind of major repair.

They are swamped with 380s right now. You need to call every couple of days to find out if it has shipped back to you yet.
My PM40 has been back 4 times for finish problems, that they caused! and it still wont get moved to the front of the line! :(
It could have been a nice summer carry gun.... but I will never know...........

I'm really shocked that they send no response knowing how important an expensive these firearms are to the owners. I'm also shocked that they don't fix the common problems at the production line level instead of forking out thousands of dollars each and every day to replace / repair.

I'm not a business man but this seems to be counter productive for them to think a gun owner would buy from them again. Maybe I'm just spoiled, Glock is my primary carry .

IMO, it's easier for Kahr to turn a blind eye to the ever present problems with their pistols than undertake a mfg. change.

While it's obvious that Kahr has a communication problem with their customers however, they aren't alone in the firearms industry, try dealing with HK or Colt. :32:

You mentioned Glock, they have made customer service a top priority and their success shows that. Aside from their pricing, their CS commitment to the LE community is second to none.

I just contacted Kahr after my gun has been in their possession for 19 days. They said it has been inspected and is awaiting a new frame.

If any of you have been through this, could walk me through the steps I need to do in order to be prepared for the call? I'm assuming it will have a new serial number and will have to go through a FFL?

YES U WILL, THEY WILL HAVE TO SEND IT TO A FFL DEALER AND U WILL HAVE TO REREGISTER IT. more than likely they will require u to send them your local ffl dealers copy of his license to before they ship it. New frame wow..SUMPIN SURE WAS OUT OF WHACK.

I would cut some time off by asking kahr if you need to supply them with the ffl dealr that will handle it for you and his copy of his license. They cannot send the gun directly to you..

I was in the gun business for over 40 years, I can honestly say I can't remember one gun maker notifying me whenI sent a gun into them. Tracking it to their place was as good as I got . I guess they just assume you know how to track a package. hell what do I know.

4 weeks waiting on a P380, and they are swamped with them? I like my 2 CW series pistols a lot, even the one that went back to Kahr for a week, but in my opinion something is wrong with the P380. In my short time here I'd estimate I've seen 3-4 times as many compaints/questions about the P380 than all the other Kahrs combined. And yes I realize that this is the place unhappy customers are going to come with their questions and complaints, but I think something is wrong with that gun and they should quit selling it until they figure out what the problem is. I think it's giving Kahr a black eye. I certainly wouldn't buy one, glad I'm not in the market for a .380 as I don't know what I'd get. S&W Bodyguard, or an elsie-pee? Haven't done much research on the .380 to see which ones are more reliable. Of course if you took to heart all the complaints you hear about guns on the internet you'd be hard pressed to find one you'd be willing to buy. I find the .32 NAA round a bit intriguing with the .32 bullet on a necked down .380 case and might give that a try if there were more gun and ammo manufacturers for it. Just my opinion, I'm sure there are plenty of P380's out there that work just fine. I just don't like my chance of getting a bad one and waiting over a month to get it repaired.
Thats just my opinion on that particular model.

I had the same thing happen on my first P380 - I asked them to send it to the dealer I bought it from. He didn't charge me anything (which was nice) but I had to do all of the paperwork and writing like it was a new gun.

It was a pain in the neck - but I'm glad I did it - the P380 is light years ahead of the other small pocket pistols - I have 2 - one was a "problem child" the other ran good at 100 rounds and kept on going. Both are perfect now.

I don't know what to think? I sent it in because the slide wouldn't lock back after the last shot and light primer strikes. Maybe they will provide more info before they send it back?

I just posted in my "back to the mothership-update". Kahr today informed me my Cali version P380 will need a new frame, hence it will be sent to my FFL, and a new fee will be required by CAL DOJ. So K.C. you and me, we is in the same boat. Still not sure when they will be releasing the new gun either!!

My post from another thread:

My P380 was returned to Kahr via overnight FedEx on 07/18. On Friday 08/26 I received a telephone call from a Kahr representative. I was informed my frame was being replaced requiring the pistol to be returned to me via an FFL holder due to the issuance of a new serial number. I asked that it be sent to the LGS where I initially purchased it. When I asked the Kahr rep if I'd have to pay a transfer fee to the LGS he told me that was at the discretion of the LGS. To offset any fee and for my six week inconvenience of being without the pistol Kahr is sending me my choice of two six or seven round magazines. I spoke with management of the LGS and they're not charging me a transfer fee.

I came home from work today to find a message from Kahr on the answering machine. I called and they confirmed that I would be receiving a new serial number and I could expect it to be delivered to the place I purchased it in 5 days.
I'll be starting the new 200 round break in period shortly after I pick it up, Hopefully I'll have good things to report.

Hope that it works out for you and everyone else that has or is wanting to get a P380.
