The only caution worth adding is that it is NOT a good idea to drop the slide with a round inserted in the chamber. The stress on the extractor as it is forced over the case rim can cause issues.

It would be better to feed a snap cap, as the demonstrator mentioned, using the magazine to feed the case rim under the extractor as normal when loading a round.

Probably, a few times won't be catastrophic . . . but as a regular practice, use a proper snap cap.
