Maybe the biggest beneficiary of the concealed handgun era has been the holster manufacturers! I have 4 carry-able guns and 8 holsters so far and not particularly happy with any of them, including my latest mail order purchase that arrived today for my new P9. How many is too many?

Welcome to the "world of holsters", we have all been there. I have tried about every make out there. Finally a guy close to me makes them and they have been outstanding both in price, quality and comfort. His websight is not up to date, just e-mail him if you are looking for something.

Thanks! I like the look of those and just sent him an email.

In my limited experience, the reason most people have so many holsters is that there is no "one right holster" that will fit every situation.

For example, if I am walking around most of the time, I am most comfortable with a pocket holster (for a small gun) because it is the least obtrusive and requires no special measures to conceal. But if you are seated any amount of time, a pocket holster is uncomfortable not to mention almost unusable.

For me, IWB is the best all-around choice, but the ones I have tried out leave me fussing with it too much - perhaps inexperience or self-consciousness - but still an issue.

OWB is the most comfortable and useful, but the least concealable. I have several that I use when I am out but don't care about concealment (there few people here most of the time - just critters).

If a holster were a fashion accessory (and maybe it actually is), you would need a whole bunch of them.

My first real holster for my p9 is a blackhawk iwb leather, and it's very good. I recently purchased a THEIS holster and while it is the weirdest looking thing, it is the most comfortable holster. It also pulls in he butt end even tighter so it prints less. Cheap too, $65 total for horsehide backed kydex. Just thought I'd put the word out.

I have so many holsters I don't know what to do with them all. I never get rid of a gun so I never get rid of a holster. I have a few I really like and a couple that I find uncomfortable.

+1 . . . I carried a PM40 in a Remora under a Hawaiian shirt for a nice dinner out last week. That was the first and only time it has been used. It was great!

Guess we don't get out enough . . . :o

May have found the right OWB today--we'll see when it arrives. Bought the Galco Paddle Speed with Crimson Trace for the P9.

It's a great holster. I carry a big, heavy HK P7 in mine.

i can relate

believe it or not so far i've been most pleased with the blackhawk cheap nylon iwb holster size 8 for my pm9, i rarely believe that cheaper is the way to go but this time for me it holds true.

Sometimes cheap works! How concerned are you with "speed" re-holstering. I know that I'm not. :)

Check out Ryan Grizzle Leather. I have two of his High Country holsters - one for my MK40 and one for my EMP. Both are great - excellent workmanship, good design, look good, after breakin function well and form to your body. I use owb style but he makes other styles as well and has a very reasonable turn around time.

Tim Thurton at TTGunleather makes some great stuff. He is more popular with the Glock and 1911 crowds but can make you something for anything with a blue gun model.

I just ordered a Remora Series 4L "3-in-1" holster today for a total of $40.90 (shipping included). It was certainly affordable and seems to offer three options (IWB, OWB, Ankle). Every review I could find was positive, but we'll see...

Ordered me a Remora Series 4L "3-in-1" holster with the SS (Sweat Shield) option yesterday for a total of $45.90 (shipping included). I called to ask a couple of questions before placing my order and talked to Alan. We had a cheerful conversation and he offered to add a pocket mag carrier to my order for free! Good folks there. Know what good old American customer service is all about. And their products are all Made in America, too.

JFootin,
Just got mine in yesterday. Problem: Regardless of how I strap it or WHERE I strap in on my ankles, that thing hurts! I know they built it right, but it seems like it should have more padding between the gun and the bones! Any ideas? Did you get yours yet? If so, how does that ankle feel?

Rainman, I have a hk p7 m13 also and I simply do not carry it as it's too heavy, how does the theis carry yours, I would love to carry mine if I can do it without constantly feeling like I need to pull the butt in from the gravitationally induced 90 degree angle that it seems to want to hang.

I have thirteen active pistols and the only ones I seldom carry are the FS Springfield 1911, the HK 40, and the SIG P220. They're just too big to be comfortable for my 5' 11" 160 lb frame. That leaves ten that I do carry.

Over the years, I have accumulated two large drawers full of holsters, probably 40 - 50. I have belt, ankle, pocket, and IWB, but IWB doesn't work for me except occasionally the Remora. The good news is that I haven't had to buy a new one in quite a while, because whatever pistol I acquire, I can always find a holster that fits.
