I would like to purchase a Kahr 1911 but do not know much about them. Know they purchased AO a few years back. I guess the real question is are they good pistols and worth the money? Should I look at another brand? Problems with Kahr 1911's? Your thoughts!

I don't know a whole lot about the Auto Ordnance kahr but I've heard they are pretty good quality. Kahr now also owns Magnum Research Inc, think Desert Eagle and they have a 1911, a full size and a semi compact. I'm working on getting a full size G model my self. I've heard from those in the know including our admin commander Johnh who has one that they are very high quality, tightly machined accurate guns that will run with those that are twice the money. I'm hoping I can give you more first hand info when mine gets here.

I really don't think you'll have issues either way you go but I'm also confident that if you do have issues Kahr will take care of them just like they do for all the Kahrs.

Surely lots of 1911 options and choices out there today, more than ever.

Thanks, will take a look at one in a couple of weeks and see if I can make a deal on one with the local gun store. Really appreciate your input.

I think someone's trying to tell me something. Went to home depot to get some paint, got the receipt - it came to $19.11. Stopped by papa john's for pizza on way home, register receipt came out to $19.11. I haven't broke the news to the little lady yet.

Cuz, are you saying this is destiny speaking to you? The cosmos sending you a message? Show that to the little lady and she might tell you "All that is saying to me is your limit for new gun expenditures is $19.11." LOL! Go for it, Skywalker. It is your DESTINY!

I bought this 1911 without breaking the budget.... $99.99 plus postage and tax.

I also bought a 1911 gun mat for cleaning my pistols on the dining table... $10 at the gun show yesterday. It has a picture of the 1911 and the Exploded Parts Diagram and labels.

I did see a few contenders for my next 1911... the Kimber Stainless 1911 TLE II for $950 show price and a stainless Springfield, but nothing I was ready to pull the trigger on. I had the Hurricane Fund with me just in case, but carried it back home... as I have for the last 5 or 6 months.:(

Dang thats sweet Wynn. What are the dimensions of that frame. Only 500 of them, gonna be hard to copy cat you on this one.

Sure a nice thing to hang on the wall.

Imagine that, I found them at the NRA store.

13 x 9. Hmm, I'm gonna have to be nice to momma. I already told her that Wynn has one, we'll see what kind of effect that might have.

And momma says " If Wyn jumped off the bridge, I guess that you would do it too?"

Speaking of 1911's and purchasing them, what's happened to our friend Melissa lately? Bawanna, fess up, what do you know about this? LOL

She got a job. She's not checking in as much but she's still with us. I've reprimanded her several times.

Ever since her and Dietrich been hitting their favorite little Italian restaurant I've been trying to keep closer tabs.

The frame is 16" wide by 13" high. The large matted opening is >6.5" high and >10.5" wide. The inner dimensions of the frame are 10 3/8" high by 13 3/8" wide.

I would be surprised if any were left... but even more if you got one labeled 336 of 500, too.

They seem to show them still available. That would be a bummer if I got a 336 huh? I think I'd complain.

I've decided as cool as it is my walls are pretty full and I got a few other items I'm hunting so I guess I won't be a gosh darn copy cat this time. Course I could change my mind in the next 5 minutes. I know I'd like too.

Oh No! Bawanna, you let Dietrich get ahold of her? How could you let such a thing happen, LOL. Well, I hope she finds time to check in with us once in awhile. Just kidding about Diet. He seems a-ok in my book.

Wasn't that O'Dell, down there together in the tiny city of Atlanta with her? :D

Yes but it was Dietrich who mentioned the favorite Italian restaurant. Long commute for him.
So are you saying she gets around?

I refuse to answer on the grounds it might incriminate me.

Interestingly enough, I just shot a brand new Auto-Ordnance 1911 yesterday. All I can say is WOW! I emptied the magazine in the black. Accuracy is incredible. What was even more outstanding was the frame to slide fit. There was NO play at all. I have seen $3K 1911's that did not have that tight a fit.

I am told street price for a new AO 1911 is around the $500 mark. That is pretty inexpensive for the gun I shot yesterday.

BtW, I really do likje that 1911 Plaque. That is very cool. :D
