hi new guy here, I bought a used P9 today cleaned and went to the range and had nothing but problems failure to eject. The spent case gets caught up between the slide and barrel horizontally as it tries to chamber the next round. Shot 200 -+ rounds and it is not a limp wrist been shooting for 30 years and have had a P9 Kahr in the past and no prob. Looked at extractor and ejector no visual damage. Is this a main spring prob? Thanks

that would be the frist thing I would change to eliminate. Normaly a recoil spring solves many issues. Beingused, u have no clue as to how old or how used that recoil spring might be.

I doubt it but we don't know if they chantged springs kand put in the wrong one or just the gun now could be alittle out of time. Not saying it is the recoil spring either but that is the first thing I would chkange being it is a used gun. A good lube asnd cleaning job would be the order of the day so when you go out you know thegun is lubed up propelrly and with a new spring (oepn end towards the frohnt of the slide also). and if u stillhavve issues then a call to kahr to discuss it. U ight take that serial number and check it out on this kahrt tech section and hit on kahr serial numbers to see about when it was made to. Might give u some indication as t its age etc. Maye alittle polish work on the chamber ight not harm anything either

erdmann,
As you believe it's not shooter related:
Have you disassembled the top end and examined/cleaned the extractor components (to include the tunnel in the slide)?
How's the ejector look?
Is the recoil spring installed properly (the ends are not reversible, tighter fitting end must be away from muzzle end of the guide rod)?
Regards,
Greg
BTW: Welcome to the forums:)

Take a look through "How to Detail Strip The Kahr Upper" (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=197) Thread. A lot of excellent tips and guides are in the Kahr-Tech Forum (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27).

The ammo... is it of known quality that works well in other guns? Reloads?

The recoil spring... They're cheap to change and may be the cause.

The extractor... also cheap to replace and should have sharp features.

The ejector... anything look wrong there?

The chamber... is it clean, shiny, scratch free and unfouled?

Are you able to have people shoot it just to eliminate you as a factor?

I run my P9 with a heavy 22lb spring, but mostly shoot NATO ammo for practice, and a few mags of +P carry ammo. I've not tried much lesser velocity practice ammo so I'm not sure how the heavier spring would handle UMC or WWB for example. I would normally think a heavy spring wouldn't matter, but it's possible.
