Hello everyone,

I've decided to take a chance on a p380 and have one on order. It should ship in about a month (black slide w/night sights). I've owned other Kahrs and am familiar with their stringent break-in procedures. I'm just wondering if there is anything I should check before taking delivery. Thanks.

P.S. - I'd appreciate recommendations for IWB holsters. I carry occasionally and don't really like the big pancake holsters. I'm looking for something that's easy to slip on/off quickly, but is comfortable and concealable too.

a month to ship? where you getting it from? mine shipped the next day a month ago.
Im using the Desantis in the pocket holster about 25% of the time. Other than that, the gun just goes into the pocket "naked".. dont want to fumble with the holster if I need to get her out quickly.

to church every day and praying might help your P380 be what we all want them to be

Ordered from GT Distributors - they don't have one in stock and neither does Kahr. I have to wait for one to be manufactured. Due to the high cost, I doubt there are many black slide w/night sight p380s laying around.

Buy some corbon 90 grain HP or some Speer Gold Dot. The p380 functions best with more powerful ammo - especially at first.

Kahr sells a nice pocket holster for #39.95 :

It's probably the best one for my use. I also recommend:

Mitch Rosen pocket $50
Don Hume IWB $30.20
Recluse (front or back pocket - both are good) about $60

The Crossbreed Microclip is supposed to be the best IWB - but I pocket carry so have never tried one.

I've had my P380 about three months and I have been on a holster buying binge to find the best fit for me.

Started with a WRB soft holster which is pretty much Desantis clone. Pretty nice, but I was not convinced that the holster would stay in the pocket when I drew the gun.

Got an AHolster kydex pocket holster. Thinner than the WRB, most consistent release, and with hooks molded in at the top and side it consistently snags the pocket and releases the gun.

Just received an R. Grizzle pocket holster in leather. This is my favorite so far; very nicely shaped (more curved than the AHolster), disappears in your pocket, consistent release when coming out of the pocket. Took about six weeks.

I am still waiting on a couple of Alabama kydex holsters that I ordered. Don't know if they will offer anything more than the AHolster, but I ordered one with a flat and round bottom.

Finally for IWB I got the Micro Tuck. This holster is much easier to slip on than the Super Tuck for my Glock, and with a P380 it just disappears. The downside is that with only one clip it appears to me that the holster wants to pull out when removing the gun. I need to keep working with it to see how much of a problem it might be, but if I had to do it over I would get the Mini Tuck.

Good luck,
rick

Thanks, but I'm paying $583.00 plus tax with no FFL transfer fee; hence my patience in waiting a month.

@Rickdm - excellent post! Thanks for taking the time to provide that useful information.

Hey, according to KharOwner, you might want to check to see if there is a bump inside the barrel.

No problem. Thats a good deal.. Just think, you can put that $70 towards ammo for breaking in your 380 :)
