I finally got to the range today with the 45 carbine thanks to the rain. The good news is that the gun shot great. I shot 100 rounds of Federal bulk and 50 of Remington UMC HP's. It never missed a beat and was making 3/4 inch groups, one hole, at 50 yards, even though I'm not used to shooting a rifle. The bad news is that the holes were all over the paper - 2 inches high, two inches low, etc. I never could get the reflex sight close to zeroed. I had a 4x scope laying around the house, so when I got home, I took off the red dot and mounted the scope.

We'll stand by and wait for a report with the scope in place. Usually those reflex sights do better than that. It's important to make sure it's solid. Some of the rail systems are somewhat less than perfect. Or the mount on the reflex is sometimes the culprit too. Usually as long as you get it tight and solid they will work.

It was solid. The problem was adjusting the retinal. I would turn the adjustment screw many clicks and nothing would move. Then it would drop or rise 4 or 5 inches with one click. I finally got the left-right correct, but never could get the up-down zeroed. This is a Burris sight and they're suppose to be pretty good.
