I note this if for current production 1911's so if my post is out of line, please feel free to tell me and/or remove it. I have an Auto Ordnance 1911 which I have owned for more than 20 years. It has a nice blue finish which has held up very well. I have used this pistol forclub level competitions of all sorts, plinking and occasional carry.
When I first purchased the pistol I noted the military type sights were next to useless for my eyes so I had my gunsmith mount more visible, adjustable sights. Other than replacing the recoil spring and changing to wooden grips I have done nothing to the pistol through its career. It still works flawlessly with any bullet design I have tried with it.
I am a real fan of the 1911 and especially of the Auto Ordnance. I have owned 1911's from other name brand makers which I have parted with when the right offer came along, but still hold on to the Auto Ordnance. A top quality piece.
