Well, I just back home from picking up my CM9 that I ordered from Davidson's Gallery of Guns. At first glance everything looks just as it should. The gun & mag has a thin coating of oil inside and out. The mag was assembled correctly and at the first try drops from the gun as the mag release is pressed. I do find the mag release button needs to be pressed completely in for the mag to be released. I assume this will ease the more use it gets. The slide is tight and requires a lot of muscle to pull it back fully. Again, I expect this to free up after break-in and the more it is used. Tomorrow, I'll clean the gun and mag inside and out with dechlorinated break cleaner and shoot some cleaner in the striker channel. Then, everything will get a light coating of Eezox and left to sit for 24 hours to let the Eezox soak into the metal. After that, another light coating of Eezox and after 2 or 3 hours, wipe off excess. Next the rail grooves of the slide will receive a fine coat of Shooter's Choice gun grease and a little dot of the grease here and there. All other lube points will already be Eezoxed. Eezox goes on wet. But, works after it dries and is a dry lube. Thursday will be 500 racks of the slide. Friday is range day. One of the indoor ranges I go to has Men's day on Fridays. Free lanes for the guys!!! So, I'll start with 50 rounds and see how it goes. If everything runs well, I'll try to get the full 200. If everything is A-OK, Saturday will be back to the range with a few types of SD rounds. I'm hoping the Ranger T-Series will run perfectly and that will be my carry round. I'll report back after the 1st range session.
Cheers,
Mark

Mark, be sure to rub grease on Lube Point 6 - the upper inside of the slide. It takes a lot of friction during break in and oil won't hack it.

Mark, congrats on your new CM9! I've cleaned my new PM9 once and oiled it with Rem Oil from Walmart. After reading your post and others, I feel I need to put a different oil and grease on it. I'm still breaking it in. Where can I get this Eezox you mentioned? And what kind of "grease" is everyone talking about? Sorry for all the newbie Q's, but gotta learn by asking!

Eezox is a synthetic dry lube. It goes on wet then works dry. Great for carry weapons because it is not wet and won't stain clothes or holsters.
http://eezox.net/page2.html (http://eezox.net/page2.html) At the bottom of the page find, "Click here (http://eezox.net/page8.html) to go to our ordering page"
Since Eezox is a synthetic and not oil based, I use a synthetic grease like Shooter's Choice on the guide rails, guide rail grooves in the slide and other heavy contact areas. You can find synthetic gun grease from several manufactures at places like Bass Pro Shop and other places.

I hope that helps you,

In the Reply Edit Window, look at the top for a little blue and green Earth with a chain link in front of it. Click on that icon and paste your Web link in the popup. If you want, you can select some text in your post and put a link under it using the same icon. For example...

Your plan sounds almost 100% like mine when I get it home. Good luck with it!

OK, I'm officially an idiot!!!!! Last night I detailed stripped my slide. I took everything apart correctly, doing it inside a clear plastic bag so if anything flew out, I'd catch it. Cleaned and Eezoxed all the parts. Since Eezox works dry, I did coat the striker. Anyway, this morning it wiped all the parts down made sure they were dry and began to reassemble. I put everything back and while I was pushing the back plate up, my finger slipped. Gosh darn wouldn't you know the striker spring along with the striker spring guide flew out and across the room. I found the spring. But, the striker spring guide part # 23 is MIA!!!!:32: I looked and looked. It must have landed on Star Trek's transporter and was beamed to a far, far distant galaxy. :( I ordered another from the Kahr website. $3.30 for the part and $5.61 shipping. Grrrrrr It is not a bad financial loss, but now my whole break-in schedule is in jeopardy. It is scheduled for USPS first class, shipping out today. I'm hoping it will arrive by Friday morning. Maybe my lost one will turn up in the mean time. Lesson learned - assemble in a plastic bag also.

I feel your pain, I really do. I don't know how many times I've searched and searched. On the good side at least it's a modern gun and you can get a new piece in a couple days and get back on the track. Take apart a 1852 Whistle Poop Magnum and have a part fly and you'll cry while you continue to look as there ain't no new part to be had.
The walk about part will not be found until your walking in with the new part at which time you'll probably trip and fall and the piece will be imbedded in your cheek or hand etc.
Sometimes it's kind of a fun challenge looking for this stuff and I know my man cave gets it's best cleaning as I play CSI and break the room down into search patterns. Course I never did find that Whistle Poop Magnum piece. Maybe your onto something with that starship transporter theory.
Keep Looking!

It also might be in the "hose zone" you know that place... It is the place that captures 1 sock that disappears from the dryer, never to be found.

Wow! That's a relief. I thought that sock thing only happened to me. Maybe I'm more normal than people let on? Naw, probably not.

You guys are funny! :D I'm getting ready to take mine apart and I had a lightbulb moment. I am going to put tape over the extractor to keep it from falling out, and I am going to try a loose loop of tape around the back of the slide - not stuck to the end plate but with about 1/2" space. That way, if my thumb slips and the extractor train starts to fly, the tape will catch it. Then, once the end plate is removed, I can press the tape down over the extractor pin to keep everything in place while I am replacing the striker spring. Of course, I also am going to use a large plastic bag to do this operation in, too. :p

I wish I'd of gambled with somebody that I'd get that response. I knew it was coming. I don't usually gamble since I'm so good at losing but I would have won this time. I'm surprised it took you so long though, you must have been elsewhere.

Ha! Got ya, Mark!! Everybody warns about the sring launching when taking it apart, but i discovered - as you did - it's even more likely when reassembling. It's a challengs to get it compressed without bending and flying off.
I looked for a few hours one day and found it the next day after some time.
