What is the best SD ammo for P45?

I've had good luck with anything other than Hornady TAP. For some reason the Kahr barrels hate this ammo. The bullets must been seated too long or the bullet profile must not mesh with the P45 lands and grooves. They won't fully chamber and when you try to eject the round it will be solidly stuck in the chamber with enough grip that I had to put the muzzle end of the slide against a solid object and push hard on the grip to eject the partially seated round.
Currently using 200 grain Gold Dot +P, but only because I couldn't find 230 grain HST when the pistol arrived. When the dots are gone, I'll switch to HST. It may or may not be the "best" but it works as it was designed to do.

230 grain HST+P is my choice in a gun like Kahr that's built for +P. Thing is when you find it buy 500 rounds to save on shipping. Since you won't shoot but a round or two now and then it should last a very long time. I only shoot the top two rounds that get chambered a bit every couple months, so my 500 rounds is a lifetime supply.
http://www.kylesgunshop.com/ carries it when they can get it. Had some a week ago but out at the moment. They also carry Gold Dot and Ranger T both of which are good.
Thanks guys for the reply. I really appreciate the info - I didn't want to buy a lot of expensive ammo that doesn't work out . I'll look for the HST. Right now Golden Saber 185 grain is working well.

Gold saber 230 grain is what I currently use in my P45, but I am considering
Trying some of the lighter bullet weights like the DPX 165 & 185's. Anyone
Try those ?

You're right about making sure it works right in your gun. I did that before buying mine. Thing is there isn't one perfect round, but several in a category of the best. HST & Gold Dot are known and while I don't know I suspect Ranger T (aka "Black Talon"?) is there also. These are supposed to be the baddest most destructive bullets out there which is ugly to think of but necessary to protect.
Thing is to find one you have confidence in and don't flitter from one to the other because it's new. One thing I like about HST is law enforcement agencies use it a lot. I could be wrong, but I suppose that means the test it out and qualify it, not just the lowest price.
