I have been reading the forum for a couple weeks now. Lots of good info on here.

I picked up my PM9 today. Can't wait to take it out for a spin. Also ordered a Silent Thunder about a week and a half ago. Looking forward to that arriving. I'll get a few pics up as soon as I get a chance.

Welcome aboard. It's nice to see someone choose the "premium" version over the economy model so popular now, that just anyone can "afford" a Kahr. :D :banplease:

Of course, I didn't have a choice when I got mine, but I wanted the black one with Night Sights, anyhow.

This forum is a great place to learn stuff about Kahrs and other things... and to socialize. Not all of the people here are curmudgeons or hermits... some can be downright helpful... sometimes.:)

Welcome to KahrTalk!

Yeah, why the PM9 over the CM9 (if you don't mind saying)? Got the PM9 myself without regrets but the CM9 was not readily available at the time. PM9 has replaced a lot of my P3AT pocket carry and also a bit of my Glock 26 AIWB carry.

Yup yup! I still smile every time I pick up my PM9. :D

The CM9 wasn't out yet when I bought my PM9, but I think I might have made the same decision anyway. I kind of tend towards a "Cadillac syndrome" when it comes to my carry firearms. So sue me...

A couple questions. The slide is really hard to pull back. I literally cant pull it back and push the slide release up to hold it back. I have to use an empty mag to get the slide to lock back. Is this normal? Also, the mags of course do not drop free, they have to be pulled out. Looking in the grip I see some plastic that sticks out. Can I remove that? Or should I try the squeezing the mag trick?

The first couple of times I also had difficulty. You have to use as much finesse as you do muscle. You'll get the hang of it. My Kahr PM9 is the hardest to rack of my several semi autos.

You did not explain just how you were racking the slide. . .but I have found the following proceedure to be effective.

Assuming that you are right handed. . .grasp the handgun normally in your right hand, orient it in front of your belly pointing to your left. Then place your left forarm over the weapon grasping the slide firmly with your left hand and push your hands towards your elbows. Voila!

This is my method as well. A lot more leverage and seems to be easier toget a better grip as well. It's important when you do this at a range that you turn parralel to the range so your not pointing to the guy on your left or right if you were born handicapped and cursed with left handedness.
A little extra caution, namely keeping the finger off the trigger of course goes without saying, the elbow and forearm of the off hand are pretty handy so you don't want to inflict any bullet troughs on same.

Thanks, that did it. I think I'm gonna have to hit the gym, this thing is a real bear compared to my Sig.

kahrs are tight, their spring system is short and there fore even tighter. u can master the racking thing, just stick with it. It was hard for me at first with my PM9 and expecially my P380. Both a real bgear to hand rack correctly, now a peace of cake. Gun smoothed out and I also adapted to the gun alot..

oil the crap out of it and rack the slide like 100 times it will really help, or just read the kahr tech section.

It's a PATEK Phillipe. Not the other way 'round. I used to be a watch snob. Til that is I realised I couldnt afford it!! All I've got now is a 5yr old ETA 5250 (I think that's the mov't model number. Same as old Panarai's.) manual wind that I love. Bummer!! Shoulda kept my quartz powered Victorinox Maverick II! So cheap to keep running!!

I have the same PM9 as you. The Silent Thunder is a great hloster for it. I really like mine. You might also consider a pocket holster. I use one (DeSantis Nemisis) for the front slash pocket in cargo shorts. It doesn't show a bit.

Don't look back on your PM9 decision. Quality remains long after price is forgotten.

Wow! You've got some HUGE bucks tied up in watches and you would not have spent an extra $200 on a PM9 had the CM9 been available?

That is one nice set up good luck with it. I have the mk9 which is pm9s cousin and I found putting a thin leather glove on and I can rack the mk9 all day. I thinks its the grip we dont have not the arm muscle. Those cocking serrations are pretty sharp the glove protects them.

Hi! Welcome and HUGE Congrats on your new PM9 & Silent Thunder! I'm on my 3rd week with my new PM9, too, and all I can say is, WOW! The more you shoot is, rack it, holster it, point it, clean it, load it....the sweeter it gets.

I, too, had a hard time at first, but now it's getting so much easier to rack. You'll love bonding with that thing!

I finally got a chance to go to the range today. First 3 rounds were perfect. 4, 5, and 6 failed to feed. 7 - 100 were perfect as well. It shoots pretty nice, a little snappy, but what do you expect from something so small. I definitely need some serious trigger time with this one to be comfortable with my accuracy. I found that I shot it best by saying screw the sights and just pointed and shot one handed. Either way though, if that target had been a bad guy, it would not have survived. I'm looking forward to getting real comfortable with this little wonder.

I also finally had the opportunity to take my Sig p220 carry SAS out as well. I bought it about 6 months ago and it has just been sitting there. Not much trigger time required for this one. About 150 rounds, alll 16 shot groups about 4" at 10 yards. I'm more than happy with that. Now to go ice my hand and wrist.
