I didn't look around on the forum here, but thought I would open a thread if anyone wants to talk about this terrible day in our collective history.

I've been puttering about the house, doing laundry and trying to figure out how to use my new phone... and at the same time watch Fox News and the activities and programs honoring the memory of those who lost their lives and the heroes who tried to help the victims, becoming victims themselves.

I've been jumping up every few minutes to grab another tissue or two and trying to keep doing something constructive.

So many people think we should be beyond conflicts and weapon free... even unilateral disarmament. Yeah, that's a good idea. There are around 200 conflicts going on all over the world and if we didn't have such great armed forces, we would have some of that conflict here. Our country also has something most others don't... a constitutionally protected RIGHT to self defense and the RIGHT to keep and bear arms. Many think that outdated and not even a people's right, but many enemies have expressed that the possibility of a gun behind every tree and door is a big deterrent to any invasion of this country... except, however, the Southern border! Some think our borders should be wide open... and some even treat them as such, welcoming all comers to the detriment of our society... financially and culturally, to say the least.

The Left sees them as potential voters and wants to do everything to welcome them and get them on the Government teats, further adding to the drain on public resources.

One of the big problems is that these invaders want to CHANGE our country into what they are familiar with, NOT become part of the "Melting Pot" that our country experienced in it's early growth. People came here for the OPPORTUNITY and FREEDOM from oppressive governments or groups, including religious ones, and to contribute to the growth of this country. Now the newcomers want to make our country into one they are familiar with... more restrictive and confining like the those they had in East Europe or the Middle East, where their lives were restricted by tyrants or even tyrannical clerics... and even impose their own brand of "justice"... like Sharia... suborning us all to their interpretation of religious "standards" of conduct and justice whether we want that or not.

I don't care for "organized religion" but I don't try to deny others that choice. I just don't want to be told what I can and can't do because of some others' beliefs. I've seen too much hypocrisy and corruption in ALL of the religions... again, ALL of the religions.

I do believe in fighting to keep this country a shining example of freedom for the whole world and continuing to fight those within and outside our country who would corrupt the ideas of our forefathers and turn this into another socialist experiment where a few "elite" (in their minds) try to impose the same tried-many-times-and-failed socialist/Communist/progressive experiment of creating a Utopian State run by themselves to take care of the poor stupid masses. Think Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez... and think about our own "Dear Leader and Great Teleprompter Reader" who would rule us all... even as the first World Leader, no less. If he can just take care of a few more of those pesky details... like our U.S. Constitution and all of the weapons in the hands of the wrong people... people as WE.

Well, I'm getting long-winded and ranting too much as usual. I'll shut up and try to do some more housework, etc.

I'll yield the "soapbox" to someone else.

Wynn:)

That day was awful. I still remember that feeling when I realized what was going on. I don't know if I will watch the commemorations since there was "no room" for the firefighters in NYC to join. Those men & women really reflected the American character that day and the fact that they aren't there now makes me think that Bloomberg is going to try to make it a Rodney King moment. Remember the "Can't we all just get along?" BS.

Yes, he's a RINO and has more money than sense, besides being for disarming us all!

9/11 is a primary reason I'm still working. Outwitting the animals is a core part of my business. I was in DC that Tuesday for a one day meeting with a pm flight home. Ended up getting home with my rental car Saturday afternoon. That unscheduled cross country drive gave me a lot of time to think, and for the animosity to build. It hasn't subsided.

Well said Wynn. I brought my wife back with me from overseas after being there for a while. She has become a citizen of this country and is a strong holder of the same beliefs and principles that you talked about. A few of her things are learn English, get a job, if you don't like things here go live somewhere else.

I have a powerpoint presentation that someone sent me about 7 days after the attack. Its rather graphic. I usually watch it when I run across it and I still get that feeling of anger.

Lets remember those who perished that day and those who have lost their lives and limbs in the conflicts since then. Long live and God bless the USA.
