I'm picking up my first Kahr soon. I've decided on the CW45. I've done my research, and decided on this one over the P45. I've owned and carried plenty of Glocks, SA XD's, XDm's, S&W revolvers, H&K, Ruger and Beretta. But tired of the bulk. So I started looking around for single stack guns, and at the same time, my girlfriend picked up at a P9. I've always been kind of in the middle on Kahr. I've known about the quality, but hated the minimalist features. After shooting hers, It's a pretty awesome gun. She got it used, so I'm not sure how much was changed. It does have Tru Dots, and the feed ramp is in a mirror finished. But I'm not worried about a match barrel, especially since the research I did showed minimal accuracy difference between the models. I just want a bang every time I pull the trigger.

So what's good to do on the CW45 and other suggestions for a first time Kahr owner? I already plan on the CW, polished feed ramp, extra mag or two, and a set of night sights. Any other suggestions from the Kahr world? The gun seems pretty ready to go out the box. And I could tack on the extra money and get the Black P45 with night sights from car....but don't see that being financially beneficial for me. If I wanted a $1000 gun, honestly I'd carry a Kimber.

Also, What are you guys carrying with? I've normally kept a generic IWB holster for back up, and a DeSantis for my main holsters. My most recent holster was for an SR9c, and with the lack of holsters out there, I went with my first Kydex. Loved how it held the gun, but it felt like a brick in my pants. So I'm going back to leather. Any suggestions for a good quality, durable, IWB leather holster with quality leather loops? DeSantis has the Cozy Partner listed for the KP45 which I don't even know if it fits the CW, but for the money, I'm sure I can find something better.

You want a very comfortable IWB holster for a Kahr? Try a Remora

I love these holsters, my Kahr CW9 lives in one of these, and it so comfortable I hardly notice it's there.

Welcome!

Single stacks make a lot of sense for most of us civilians. That CW45 carried with a spare mag and maybe even a pocket .380 BUG would be awesome protection.

Welcome to the forum Hubbard, hope your CW45 works out well for you. I put a laser on mine which severly limits the holsters available. Until I can get something better I'm using an Uncle Mikes Sidekick size 15. It's made for large semi-auto's for IWB carry, fortunately it's large enough to carry the CW45 with the laser. It's more like a pouch than a holster, but my belt does a great job of securing the gun in it. A Kahr rep said the holster they have in the Kahr Shop for the P45 with a laser works
well with the CW45. It's an OWB Mitch Rosen belt slide holster. You can check it out here: http://www.kahr.com/P45-Holsters/Kahr-Mitch-Rosen-P45-w-CT-Belt-Slide-RH-Black.asp For my CW40 without a laser, I've been using an IWB Sof-Tuck by DeSantis. It was pretty inexpensive, around $25, plus shipping. I like it because of the many different ways you can adjust the cant of the gun. It will work for carrying over the kidney with whatever cant you like, to even a small of the back holster with the handle pointing straight up. It's very versatile. I carry it with a strong forward cant with the gun handle running up close to my kidney area and it stays well hidden, unless I bend over at the waist, the it does print pretty bad.
I would like to check out the Remora sometime if I can find a store that stocks it and will let me try it on. I've heard a lot of good stuff about that holster.

Sparks which model do you use? Their site recommends a #4 for the CW9 but it also states the 4 is built for 3.25 barrels - the CW has 3.6" pipe.

I use a remora also for my CW9. As Sparks said they are very comfortable, and inexpensive.

Thanks everyone. I brought the new piece home earlier today. Ended up with a .40. Got a good deal on it and the shorter grip worked better in the end.

As for holstering, I've looked into the Remora's....I'm just not sure about them. I've seen them work but just not a lot of faith in them. I'm looking into the DeSanti's, but as for their website, they only show the Insider and Tuck This 2 in stock. I like the over the belt clips more, so I may go with the Insider for price. Otherwise, I'm looking at a Crossbreed. (*EDIT* Which I just realized are also a 4-6 week wait.) My GF bought her P9 with a Southern Holsters custom, that being a few years old and worn to hell, is still an awesome holster. It has a double leather loop on each side of the holster and holds the gun right in place through anything. But I need one pretty quick, ordering a custom is more of a future option.

Check out OpitcsPlanet.com, MidwayUSA.com, Amazon or do a Google search and go from there. Sometimes it is frustrating trying to nail down what gun you want a particular holster for; some sites are better than others at doing that. But you can find the holster in stock at retailers, even though the Desantis website says out of stock.

Another quick, almost painless option is to get an Uncle Mike's holster for a few bucks to tide you over. Here is the Desantis Soft Tuck at a good price....

i just recently purchased my first kahr last week, always been primarily a glock buy myself. i went with the cm9 because i don't have a gun that fills the "pocket" role and didn't really think the extra size of the cw9 was worth the extra 1 round magazine capacity. i shot 700 rounds through it over the weekend without a single problem, and it hasn't left my pocket since. my poor poor g19 has been sitting in a safe for several days without any love.

as someone who has done a million and one mods to my glocks over the years, i for some reason always ended up going pretty much back to stock as my preference. that being said, since i'm not as familiar with kahrs i will likely just add some night sights and leave well enough alone. in fact, i may try adding a ny1 trigger spring and 3.5lb connector to my glocks just to make the trigger pull more similar to my cm9, i never thought i'd be going that way with the glock triggers. time will tell...

anyways congrats on making the decision, i am absolutely loving my cm9 so far. i know you said you weren't into the kydex thing, but i got this nice slim kydex IWB holster from pjholster.com and it is great. i bought the cm9 for its slim concealability, why add bulk with the holster?

if you absolutely must have leather and don't mind paying the price or waiting for the production time, there's absolutely no better brand on the market than TTGunleather.
