Finally got time yesterday to take my new-to-me CW40 to the range yesterday after a small gun shopping spree. Stocked up on a couple different types of ammo, some 155, 165, and 180gr defense and range ammo and fired a couple hundred through it. Flawless functioning. Ate everything that came through, even mismatched magazines. I tried to get the gun to malfunction, but it wouldn't. Shot limp wristed, still ejected. My gf shot it having never shot anything but 9mm, and didn't have a problem with it. Gun was surprisingly easy to control. After firing a few shots and getting used it, even rapid fired grouped easily. Got a new Desantis Sof-Tuck holster that carries the gun super nice as well. I thought it would just tide me over until I could order a custom holster but it's going to work a lot more than temporary use. Sits nice, tuckable, clip surprised me with how well it held the holster being an under the belt J clip, and the gun stayed in place. Although, Desanti's ships the holster with Torx head screws for the adjustments, but an allen wrench for the supplied tool. Being an engineer and mechanic, I call that a fail. Going to locate night sights in the next few days and get those ordered.

My one complaint, My rear sight is off. First few rounds scattered trying to get used to sights on it and new gun, but once I did, my shots were still off. Still in the target but not where I was aiming. I moved the target in and at 15ft, I was still low and left. I noticed my rear sight is offset to count for going left, so I can adjust that, but gotta figure out why it's shooting low too. The gun smith here locally should be able to offer some insight when I get my night sights put on I hope. Gun is awesome, no obvious damage, straight barrel, just low shots. So I'm at a loss. But I managed to decapitate a silhouette target. Although I was going for head shots.

Either way, my verdict, this gun is awesome. Finally carried it, and multiple occasions, I forgot the gun was there. Contrary to my Glocks and Rugers, who constantly remind you they're hanging off your belt.

Good report, glad it's working for you. It's a moot point since you plan to install night sights but low and left if very very usual for new Kahr shooters getting used to that long trigger. Not to say your sights might not be off and it sounds like you shot enough to confirm same but if the sight is pretty much centered on the slide it could still be you.
No shame either, it takes a bit to get used to a Kahr trigger.

Did you notice any greater recoil from the 180gr bullets? Someone said they thought they had more recoil than the lighter bullets. Just wondering. Congrats on the great range trip.

Yeah, I'm still getting used to some of it, I'm not going to say part of it wasn't me. But the sight is definitely off.

My camera is giving me **** and won't focus, but left side of gun(right side of picture), the sight is almost flush. Right side(picture left) has a decent gap.

Honestly, I think there was more recoil from the 165 gr. The 180 had power in it, but the 165 got jumpy. Could've been the choice of ammo or the weight, but definitely more jumpiness from some of the lighter loads.

Congrats on your new CW. I bought mine on a whim at my LGS, when I was there for something else. While it can't replace my pocketable PM9, it's become my favorite Kahr. I shoot it better than the PM, and the light weight has placed it ahead of my more expensive belt carry guns in my rotation.

Great report. I hope new sights are more centered and get you closer to centerline. The CW/P size is nice. When I get my P40 shooting like I want, I want to try CCW with it. The .40 S&W is a nice caliber.

I put a metal base on the 6-rounder and use the 7-round extended grip for a reload and range use. I got ONE good pinch with the metal base plate, so I added an O-ring, but need to get a bigger one, since this one can slip under the leading edge of the BP and then start "easing" it forward a bit. I have to find my ~1" Vitron O-rings... bought 20 online for my semi-auto. It might be the right size.

Congrats on your new Kahr. It's great that your GF shot it easily, too.

hubbard: u might need to change ur sight picture, see more of the front sight, not a big deal . rear sioghts are moveable--move it, take care of ur lefts and rights.

I'm not bothering with it since I don't have a proper way to press the sight, and don't want to scratch the new shiny. I'll have my night sights in about a week. They'll be aligned perfectly, the gunsmith I know does amazing work and always has dead on perfect alignment. And I'll be able to concentrate easier with 3 dot sights instead of this line/dot crap Kahr has going on. I normally focus on the front sight and let the rear sights blur, I've been shooting for a while, but it just wasn't working so well on the stock sights.
