New PM9

What an incredible accurate pistol. No feed issues (I used only the 6 rd mag).
The only problem I had was that on the last round the slide would not lock back on the last rd 80% of the time. I had two other new pistols with me and only had time to run 7 mags through the PM. When I got home I used the same empty mag and it locks back every time. I have read a lot within this forum and have not read about this being an issue.

The other two pistols I had with me were a new Glock 26 and a new Sig P226. I noticed how smooth they racked – click click. And the PM would have a grinding feeling. I noticed this when I did the break in of 500 or more racks. Sometimes it would feel smooth and sometimes rough. Not sure if this is important or not, but while I was doing the break in on some of the racks I would pull the trigger and it would seem the next rack was smoother. I wasn’t really thinking about it at the time because I was just doing the racks and figured it was “normal”. Also if I pulled back kind of slow (at the end of 500 racks –whew) it felt worse.

I have the new dual spring guide rod – does the inner guide need a drop of oil on it? It would seem that it would. The lube guide sticky shows the old spring.

a drop \of oil on that inner spring certinly willnot hurt one thing. Have u visited the kahr tech section and hit on two good sticky's

#1 kashr lube chart

#2 propper prepping of your new kahr. It also address what to look for in a slide not locking open. certainly rounds down range willsmooth things out also so 50 rounds is not enough to get the gun smoothed out IMO, but it should lock open. How about letting another shooter try the gun to see if he can duplicate your issues to. That helps eliminate the possability of "shooter error". U need to eliminate the possables

could be you, ammo, or the magazine..... chances of it being the gun without any ftf or fte happening...slim.... It happend to me and a few other people also, maybe i wasn't holding it properly as I noticed when I paid attention to the problem it went away! Try loaded the mag up with one round, let the slide forward and fire it. If it doesn't lock open have someone else do the same like jocko said... the try different ammo or mags.

If it's not you, then it should stop after the first 50 or so. Thats is, if it is not the ammo as well. My CM9 did this a few times and stopped after my first box of ammo.

its not uncommon to have some failure to hold open, until the recoil
spring loosens a bit

Just a thought. In many shooters their thumb is slightly resting on the slide release during firing the pistol. On some guns even the slightest pressure will cause the slide to not lock back on every magazine. Try altering your grip and report back to us.

I would have to agree with CJB post. somertimes the recoil spring is so strong that it takes some rounds for it to pre set itself. If ud id all the check to eliminate anything else causing it, then IMO it could be just more rounds down range will take care of it.. again it is all about timing. Indeed let another shooter try it, and he can duplicate it, then assume it is gun related. Elimiante the shooter first hand..

I found this to be the case initially with my P380. Except for when I was shooting one hand with my left hand. When shooting two handed or right handed, I had the problem. Then it dawned on me. My right thumb was touching the slide stop. With my larger Kahrs, my thumb was not touching, but with the small gun, it was. Touching....just touching......I couldnt believe it was an issue (and it should not be) but it is what is.

On most guns, this does not result in problems. On my Kahr P380, it's a problem.

So I became mindful of that and kept my thumb off the stop. I had to adjust my grip to accommodate that need, and we're good now.

So try left hand shooting or otherwise eliminate the thumb touching the stop variable and see what happens.

My CW9 would not lock back when I used PMC ammo but that was during the break-in period. I have not tried it since.

It has worked flawless with all other ammo I have tried (Amerian Eagle, Winchester, Remington).

prkguy, I would think it would be Ok now,m that is strange but it is all about timing and util a recoil springs takes its designed set, a gunmight go bang every time but other things might not be in time yet. Another reason why many guns do need some rounds down range, callum whatu want but it sure brings alot of guns into perfection after a few hundred rounds. As much as we might want it these gun makers are not goingto spend alot of time taking some little high spots off of here and there before shipping it out. We need to be patient with someguns more than others. I do think kahrs need more tlc than most guns ,.... I recently had a chance to handle a new PM9 of which allof u know I have a PM9 with thousands of rounds down range. I actually thought I had two different guns. The new one was a real bit-h to hand rack. I could feel the ruffness of the action even. All of thost things are gone in my PM9...
