I have a PM9 with the external safety and loaded chamber indicator. I have an issue where when in a desantis pocket holster or IWB holster, the magazine release gets pressed and pops it out. I have the steel magazine release and it seems to go about half way in before the magazine releases. How can this be fixed?

Whats hitting the mag release button? Does it feel to easy to depress or you think it's releasing with the button too early?

It should be situated in the holster so that it isn't being depressed at all. Lots of guys here use the Desantis pocket holsters and I haven't heard of this being an issue before that I recall.

I don't pocket carry so we'll have to wait for some that do to fill in the blanks.

My body seems to be pushing against the holster which in turn hits the release. Comparing to my glock it feels okay.

My Desantis super fly does not cover the mag release. You may want to get one that lets it exposed so that doesn't happen.

I don't have a pic of the other side handy, but here is mine, and you can see it clears the mag release on this side and is cut the same on the other and clears it as well.

Another plus...The super fly is much more sticky then the Nemesis if that is what you have now.

When I make leather holsters, I always design them so the mag release is is not covered for exactly the reason you describe. I cut them so the leather goes right beside the release to take up the space so it can't be pushed by your body.

With the beautiful rigs you've made Beardog you sometimes carry store bought?

I guess it happens, I got a set of store bought grips Melissa sent me on my CBOB, guess it's not a sin if it works.

Seeing as how it is happening in your pocket and IWB, IMO there is a problem with your mag release spring. Mine is so stiff, I have to hit it to make it release. Ask Kahr to send you an new one.

On my Leather Kydex hybrid type holster the mag release button would push when I wore it with my CW9. I put a dab of ink from a stamp pad on the button and wore my holster. It marked the spot very nicely for me and I took my drill and made a small hole not all the way through the leather. It never happened again. I am not sure what yours is like but it may be worth a try.

could be a weak spr4ing but I doubt it, if ur pocket rig cover4sw the trigger guard, it shouyld cover the mag release. I have carried my PM9 for over 5 years in my pocket and it has never ever happened and that is with jeans which fit kinda tight. Kahrs mag release spring is a metal rod, I just don't see a weak on happening but try a new one before doing anything drastic. next step[ IMO would be t change holsters.

Thank's Bawanna, That pic is from my pre-leather working days :)...I wanted to show how my Desantis is cut, because I am betting the OP has the other stlye Desantis PM9 cut that comes up over the mag release.

These day's I usually carry in one of my own leather holster's. But it's nice to have option's, and I have lot's of them. I have gone from 1 holster drawer... To 2 holster drawers and a duffel bag full of them since I started making them LOL...And I am shopping for more and different leather's now (horse hide and some exotic's) so more to come I guess:D

On all the hybrid holsters I have I did a "combat cut" to them so that they all clear the mag release, and also aid in getting a proper firing grip.

my cheapo blackhawk IWB size 8 holster covers the mag release button and hits it somewhat but has never pushed it with enough force to pop the mag. i carry it and move around enough that it would have happened by now.

Well the mag release is covered by both holster types. I trimmed the leather one to allow the release to be open but not sure how to mod the desantis? sounds to all like it's a holster issue not a gun issue than?

maybe not just call kahr and they wills end yhou a new mag relase rod/spring. who knows, it might just do the trick for you. I would not hack up holsters YET.

What ur encountering is very vbery rare tohear, so again get a new mag spring ..might take 5 minutes to install, if UR SLOW.

If u go to the kahr tech section and look under cw45 fixes, I am pretty sure GB6491 has a nice photo tutorial on how tochange that mag spring. Like I said, it might take you 5 minutes to do if UR SLOw..

Okay, sent an email to Kahr tonight. Springs are worth a try, thank you.

Kahr emailed me back. They don't think its the spring but believe its the mag release itself. They're sending me out a new one. We'll see if that fixes the issue or not.

Little follow up. They sent me a new release and a new spring. I now push the release nearly flush before it ejects the mag. Perfect. Definitely the release not the spring. Installed and good to go! Thanks for the replies!

Great to hear they took care of you!

Now, Beardog just needs to send me a demo holster to try out and review.:D
