I went to my local indoor range this afternoon to test out a Ruger LC9. I stopped by the counter to talk with a salesman, and he showed me a couple other guns incuding a Kahr PM9. Then he said he would let me shoot the PM9 range gun along with the LC9 for no extra cost. Suddenly, I was glad I had brought along a 100 round WWB..I shot 8 mags though each gun.

The Kahr was the most accurate and slightly less 'snappy' right from the get go (7 meter target distance). The Kahr trigger was superior. With the LC9 I kept shooting low, I think due to the long trigger pull. I had never shot either before and, while my shooting improved with the LC9 towards the end of the session, the Kahr still imressed me as the better gun.

My question is, would the Kahr CM9 shoot just as well as the PM9? I don't want to pay the PM9 price..it's way above my budget for the pocket gun I'm looking for.

And, has there been any problems with these small Kahrs shooting 124g +P ammo as a defensive round?

Yes, for 99.9999 % of the shooting population the CM9 will shoot just as well as the PM9.

No, 124 +P is perhaps the most often round carried in 9mm pistols, probably likely the Kahrs as well. Personally though after a mag of my carry I'd shoot something softer and cheaper for the rest of my live fire session.

good comparision between the pm9 and lc9, i must be that .0001% that prefers a match grade barrel and black finish offered in the pm9. i'm sure a cm9 will be equally as impressive especially in a close range pocket gun scenerio.

Other than cosmetics, the only real difference is the barrel's rifling. Much as been said of the polygonal rifling vs conventional rifling - in this case hammer forged. I dont think there's a hill 'o beanz difference in a 3" barrel, when you consider the rifling types and overall accuracy - which is outstanding on both.

Go for the CM9 and you will not be disappointed. Other than the different rifflings, the other differences are cosmetic. Internal workings are identical. With the free mag offer, it is a a great deal over the PM9. I tried the LC9, PF9 and the CM9. I went with the CM9 because it is a little smaller and the trigger is just way better than the others. However, the price of the PF9 is hard to ignore.
