http://flic.kr/p/apYV2VHi Guys,
Yesterday I installed the new front night sight I bought from the Kahr website. Today I went to the range to make sure my POA and my POI were one in the same. Plus I needed to test the new 6 round mag I bought and the 7 round extended mag that I received via the September Kahr promotion. First I must say that both mags were assembled properly. The 7 rounder was dirty and looked used. The 6 rounder came in a sealed plastic bag and was OILED up. I cleaned both mags. The 7 rounder slid in and out of the gun frame fine. The 6 rounder needed to be squeezed in several spots. Also need to be squeezed front to back at the top not just side to side. But, I did get it to drop out freely. Anyway, I shot 150 rounds of Federal FMJ 115gr. switching mags every so often. Later, I shot 25 Critical Defense rounds with the 6 round mag, just to confirm the mags carry worthiness. No issues with the mags or the workings of the gun. Now onto the new sight. IT WAS GREAT. For whatever reason, it was easier to line up with the rear sight than the stock front sight. Here is a picture of my first target today. It was 10 yards out and must have been either a 12" or 15" target. I put 50 rounds into it. Except for a couple strays everything was within the 9 ring, mostly in the 10. I think the far 9's and the strays were from double taps. All in all it was a nice day at the range and I'm totally happy with my CM9.

Cool! Nice report. And the sight didn't fly off... You should start installing them for Kahr :)

Here is a thread that tells what I did beyond the instruction sheet.

There is plenty of information around the forum about installing the sight. Search around and you'll find it.

Nice shooting. Glad you like the new night sight. How's it look in the dark?

The front sight is fine in the dark. It is about the same brightness as the Meprolight set on my Glock. However, the diameter of the tritium tube is smaller. So, it does not appear as bright. To tell you the truth, to be really functional in the dark, you need both the front and the rear night sights. At some point I will order the rear night sight and have it installed.
I am glad I went with night sights on the front and back. I prefer lining up three dots over the two dot that comes standard with the CM9.

I am thinking about ordering this sight. Not for night use. Just as a metal front sight option for the CM9. How is it for daytime shooting?

Good idea. The stock plastic sight snapped off very easily. I think it is fine for daytime.

I almost forgot, Dawson Precision offers several different front sight options. Including daytime fiber optic and black serrated.

So, I ordered the rear night sight for my CM9 today. Then, I went out to my 3 local gunsmiths to make install arrangements. None of them will install a rear sight on a Kahr. They all said that they have many troubles doing it. A 4th gunsmith wanted $45.00 to start and it could be more depending on the time it takes him. I called Kahr, had them hold my order and made arrangements to send Kahr my slide and have them install it. I'll ship out my slide on Monday. Lessons learned. 1) Order a CM9 with the nights sights already installed from the factory. 2) If not then be sure to order the rear too. The front alone is not good enough. 3) If following rule 2, don't have the sights shipped. Send slide to Kahr for install. This cost me a few extra dollars, but not tooooo much. Still, lesson learned.

Wow! I purchased my CM9 Wed, and ordered the Night Sight Set from Kahr. Sights came in today. I installed the front night sight myself, but not having a sight pusher and no open shops around today I will have to wait to have the rear installed. I am second guessing it as of now though, I like the dot the I set-up, and the front night sight only is not a bad set-up. Guess I could have saved some $$

why not leave that rear sight alone and stick with the new front night sight. should be a winning combination.

In low or no light, for me, it is impossible the use the sights with only the front night sight. I tried and tried. But I cannot line up the sights correctly when I cannot see the rear sight. For me, the front night sight only is completely non-functional as a night sight without the rear.

I wouldn't worry about the rear sight glowing. Just look over the top of your sights and put the green dot on target and squeeze the trigger. In a real shoot-out it's impossible to line up your sights, trust me I've tried. I argued this point with a buddy of mine, who believed he could uses his sights in a shoot-out. Talked to him after he was involved in a shoot-out in and outside a convenience store, asked him if he used his sights and he answered what sights. He did manage to put three rounds in the guy. It's not a training issue there is no way to train for the real thing. It's a physiological reaction to danger, your going to focus on the threat. If you can focus on a gun sight, in a shoot out, it will be on the bad guys gun and your in real trouble.

In the dark I can't tell if I'm looking over the rear, next to the rear, if the front in way up, or what. I installed the front. (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8643) But, for the extra $20.00 plus shipping, I'll have Kahr install the rear. I have the full set on my other defensive handguns and think their worth every penny.
