View Full Version : CM 9 Trijicon night sights Not Good
The front night sight Kahr installed broke off a second time after 50 rounds. Very frustrating. Kahr has had my gun twice for repairs (soon to be three) I told them to refund $120 for the sights and install factory plastic sights back on.
I also had one ftp in the 50 rounds fired. I am about to call it quits on Kahr. I need to feel confident my firearm will operate when I need it.
I will be watching close for reports on the Nano.

I think the night sight is fine. I think the installation is not good. Why don't you install it yourself?
Can you clarify what an FTP is?
Slide stopped on the back of the shell in the magazine. I had this issue before and Kahr worked on that issue. I have spoken to Rich at Kahr and their gunsmith is telling me this is very unique for the front sight screw to snap off. I think the gun barrel is coming in contact with the screw. What else would break a screw in 50 rounds? Kahr is going to get back with me tomorrow.
What good is a gun if you can't trust it?

I totally understand. If I get that way with a gun, it goes, and goes quickly. I love my CM9 and it has been flawless since break-in was completed. I carry it every day. My Trijicon night sights have held up to some range punishment as well. But if any gun gets me where I have second guesses about it, it's retired as EDC, or more than likely sold / traded for something else. Do what makes you feel confindent. Sorry your Kahr experience wasn't that good.
The smartest thing I did was pay Kahr to install the night sights. The problem is Kahrs to figure out a third time. I love the pocket size but I have that question mark in the back of my mind will it deliver if my family or my life is on the line. That 2% failure to feed rate is enough for me to say later days Kahr. 700 rounds is enough to break in. I am anxiously waiting to see if the Beretta Nano will deliver the goods. If it lives up to all the hype it will knock Kahr Diamond Back etc into a tail spin. There just is not a 100% reliable pocket 9mm out there and that is why when a gun manufacture finally figures out how to manufacture Glock reliability in a mouse gun they will grab a big piece of the concealment market.

Hi Russ, Real sorry about the problems with your pistol....One thing I got to say is there is no such thing as a 100% reliable pistol, revolver or any other man made machine on earth period but you have had more than enough problems with that pistol and if were me I would be steamed about it too...
I really think you might think about peddling that particular pistol because even if Kahr makes it as perfect as it can possibly be you have lost confidence in it and if God forbid the times comes to pull it to defend family or self you WILL be thinking about will it shoot or not and it might cause you a second of doubt which may be about a half second too long...
There is no problem with moving on and trying something else and in this case I think thats a good idea and as has been mentioned previously a nice little S&W or Ruger .38 pocket pistol might fit your needs better...Just my 2 cents...Good luck and let us know how this works out...

As a former Glock owner. I can say with certainty. They are not 100% reliable either.
Thank you everyone. I have really enjoyed the short time on this forum. I feel like the last day at high school saying my good byes.
If it goes as I am hopeful Kahr will figure out why the CM9 I was sold keeps breaking the front night sight and make a better gun for others. For me a gun should not consume so much of my life that I am spending free time on the phone with Kahr or shipping the gun back for repairs and play the endless waiting game. I didn't sign up for that headache. Thanks again Russ

Parting ways with your CM is not an automatic expulsion from the forum either. You may have noticed we do talk about other guns and even stuff not about guns.
If you feel the need to leave, see ya, but nobody is holding the door open for ya.
If I found myself Kahrless in addition to being careless which I already am I'd still have a really hard time getting free of my kahrtalk addiction.
My spidey senses tell me you'll have another Kahr anyhow. None are gonna run with them in all areas but many try.
