Kahr meprolite question

I ordered Meps from Kahr and was a little disappointed in their packaging. They were in a small zip-lock stapled to a nice instruction sheet typed up by Kahr. No name brand anywhere except for the tru-dot stamped on the sight.

Why no retail packaging? How can I tell the date of manufacture? This is the 1st time I have ever seen this.
