Ammo Question

Hi guys, I have been doing some playing with my PM9. I installed a set of Mepros, polished the throat and most of the contact surfaces inside the gun. Also did a "fluff and buff" on the trigger. It really shoots nice with absolutely zero problems. I am amazed at being able to hit my home range target with good accuracy that is 25 yards. It is getting cold here and I want to keep shooting indoor at the local range. They only allow unjacketed ammo and I can't seem to find any. I see the Bitteroot frangible stuff but have heard bad reports about it. Has anyone here found any unjacketed 9mm on the net or had any experience with the cheapo franfible stuff?

That's strange. Most indoor ranges nowadays would prefer that you NOT shoot lead bullets.

Most of the indoor ranges in my area are the same way. No jacketed bullets, lead only. I live in Western PA and am wondering if this has something with state or local laws concerning lead. Right across the state line in Ohio, it seems all of their indoor ranges ban straight lead ammo and allow you to shoot pretty much whatever you want. I actually have a place near me called Mastercast, thay will take your spent brass and trade it for a discount on their reloads. They offer lead cast ammo, which I can't shoot out of my MK9, but can out of a few others I have. They have a website, not sure if they ship or not. Their prices are pretty reasonable for those of us who don't reload...yet.

Why can't you shoot cast bullets out of your MK9? My Kahr manual says lead bullets are fine just be sure to clean it extra well.

My manual says it's not recommended. Not sure what you own but the MK9 has polygonal rifling. I know a lot of people will debate this to the end of the earth as to if you can or can't use lead in a polygonal barrel but I'm not a risk taker and would rather just stick with fmj and not worry about it. If that means not being able to shoot indoors at my range with it then I'll just have to suck it up when it's cold.

ALOT OF THESE RANGES WITH epa BULL SH-T NAGGING THEM CANNOT SHOOT LEAD ammo. I know a few ranges in florida that my daugherr took me to only allowed jacked bullets, Big sign posted. NO LEAD AMMO ALLOWED.

Lead Round Nose (LRN) 9mm ammo is out there. Here are a couple of links to an outfit I have often purchased from who indicates they have it in stock. The second one is pretty cheap too.

My indoor range checks ammo with a magnet to make sure you aren't bringing steel in. Lead & jacketed okay.
