Grease for break in period of CM9

I just ordered a CM9 and I have been reading these forums as much as I can to get as much info as I can.
I see many people like the TW25B grease, but I cannot get it locally and I don't want to wait to go shooting for an online order to arrive.

What good alternatives are there that I can get at my local Walmart or are carried by most local gun shops?

I have never used a de-greaser and should I use one (if so which) once I have used grease on the gun.
In the past I have always used CLP Breakfree for most of my cleaning needs and sometimes added some rem-oil.

I would just use CLP on the lube points. For grease on my comp Glock rails I use Mobile 1 sythentic from Wal-Mart.

Degreasing I have always used Wal-Mart chlorine free break cleaner but that is for my ARs and my MK9 that's stainless. I have no idea how it works on a poly framed gun.

I use Shooter's Choice synthetic grease. You can find it at most gun shops, Bass Pro Shop, and other places. I think is works just fine. I use de-clorinated brake parts cleaner you can pick up anywhere as a de-greaser. I've been using it for years and it works great. For break-in use grease on the bigger areas and gun oil in places you cannot reach with grease. Make sure you look at the stickys about proper break-in (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1521&page=13) and the lube diagram (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=308&page=2). Follow those steps and you'll be as happy with your CM9 as I am with mine.

orderit direect from Mil-comm.com get the syringe tw25, super stuff.

actually shooters choikce that you can find at most gun stores is very ver good also and comes in a syringe applicator. ur goona get lots of recommendations on this lube stuff, go with what you like, stick with it, they are all good. we allhave our personal choices. I just like TW25, sticks where I put it. Military uses it alot. I think Brownells also sells TW25, most gun stores do not..

I would buy the smallest package of gun grease locally while waiting of my order TW25 online to arrive. I suggest 1 of the .5oz needle applicators and 1 1.5oz tube to refill the needle to spread the cost of shipping. That will last you a very long time even if you shoot like Jocko does.

I always use grease on the rails and barrels of my pistols, break in or not. I'm not as particular about the grease [right now it's Hopps Gungrease] as I am with oil, so i get it locally. For oil, I use Militec 1 or Weapon Shield.

O'Dell. how do you like WeaponShield? I got the free sample but simply don't like it. I put it on the inner recoil rod and it turned to goo after some time. Slippery goo but still goo. I prefer to clean all the stuff off then apply new. But then I enjoy cleaning as much as shooting and prepping brass. I'm just funny that way and have more time than you. Let's see, you have 3 jobs, I have none. Sigh, I miss working.

I have a large container of Wheel Bearing Grease...think THAT would work ?

I think I got the same sample sample. I've only used it a couple of times and haven't looked inside the guns since, so I didn't know about the goo. I like Militec 1, but I got the WS to see if I could avoid the hairdryer thing. I clean and lube after I shoot, not before, so the guns and oil don't get hot from shooting. I did notice the WS was thicker. Nice syringe though - maybe I'll fill it with Militec later. Unlike you, I HATE cleaning guns.

BTW that's four jobs - five before we closed the Diner.

Before I switched to Eezox (I believe to be the best and non-petroleum based) I used WeaponShield. I thought it was fantastic stuff, for a petroleum base lube. I never experienced any goo or gumming or anything like that. I would venture a guess that if there was enough to goo then toooo much was used. A couple drops on a q-tip goes a long way. That is another reason why I switched to Eezox. Besides being totally synthetic, it works dry. No chance to goo or gum or clogging or attract dirt or have stuff stick to it or anything like that. After it dries you cannot even tell it is there. I use nothing but Eezox on most guns. But I have been using some synthetic grease on a few spots on the CM9. After a while, when I'm sure the CM9 is totally worked in, I will discontinue using the grease.

Tip for you O'Dell.... Don't clean out that sample tube with brake cleaner. It eats it right up. If I ever get back to a gun show I'll probably pick up a few if they are there. I thought about it the only time I went but walked away.

CLP and Rem-oil will work fine, but so will any grease if you are in a warmer climate. The synthetic greases will handle the lower temperatures better.

My CM9 ran fine on Mobil 1 10W-40 and 5W-30 G-Oil. I use rubbing alcohol if I need a degreaser.

My final suggestion on the thread.... Use grease, not oil on the high friction lube points and rub it in. Points #6, 2, 3, 10 need grease. You will not regret using grease there so why not do it and fret about it.

Sig Arms supplies a small tube of TW25b with new handguns. TW25b or Slide Glide lite is good enough for me.
