That's a CRKT Crimson Trace Range Bag tool. http://www.crkt.com/8970

That's sweet! I'm gonna order me up one. That way I won't forget the tiny little allen wrenches when/if I ever get to the range to sight mine in.

Looks like a right handy little tool.

Thanks for pointing me at it.

That's handy because I couldn't find my danged allen wrenches for my CT Lasergrips for a week or so, until I ran across them one day. I have several sets of allen wrenches but hate to buy a whole set to get those tiny ones!

It's made very well. They make pretty good knives.

Nice. I really want one of those. Do you like it?

Well like is a strong word. They are a cool novelty you must be extremely careful with it. They are not the most reliable things out there. If you keep it for what it is a cool little piece of recent history an don't expect to much out of it there fun to shoot. And somewhat expensive .25 ACP. It was my moms purse gun until she dropped her purse and it went off. I got her an airlite. And took the Bauer. She got it in the late 70's early 80's. So it's been around here a while. I'll never get rid of it. Kinda like my grandfathers hi-standard .22 which I have in my possession and his Taurus .38 special in his possession. Family guns. You know.

I sold hundreds of those Bauer 25 in my gun shop years ago. A baby browning no less. I would bet today that 95% of the owners of that little 25 never have shot it either. It was very well made, but certainly not the gun I would want to carry today. It does brng back ol memories though...

I had a PSP .25 (http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/PSP-25/psp-25.html) many years ago. A real quality built gun, done under license from FN.

medic579

I meant better than Bauer. Don't get me wrong it's a pretty well made copy if the baby browning. They were unlicensed copy's none the less. but it still does it's job well if you keep it very clean. I just wouldn't carry one.

See Jocko's post above. Not what I would want to depend on today, but I love shooting it. The trick is not letting the slide eat your hand because it's so small.

I read something the other day that said that .25ACP was the most popular caliber until the 90s. I don't know how true that is, but I read it on the internet.

As much as we jack threads around here, myself usually being the worst I think we're violating the sanctity of a very important and meaningful thread here with general talk about other guns which is of course fine and good but I suspect it would be best if we take it to another area.
New folks might be overwelmed with the size of the thread only to find that the train left the tracks half way through.
If no one agrees, consider this a senior moment and I'll be taking my nap now.

Is PSA the only company making them right now?

Bawanna
10-02-2011, 06:24 PM
I didn't aim to cause all this hocus pocus, just wanted to transfer, no need to delete everything as now the conversation is right out the window.

I'll see what I can do to make this right.

Again weren't no big issue, just a suggestion.

Bawanna

Well how about that I believe I pulled off an honest to goodness miracle.

I think I got all the stuff from that other thread over to this one. Might be a few earlier ones that oughta come here too, I'll go take another look. I really didn't think it would work.

If my arms was a foot longer I'd pat myself on the back but that would be self serving, might be swell for itches though.

If your inquiry is specific to "Baby Browning" clones, then I believe they are the only company making one now. If you are asking about .25 ACP pistols in general, then no as there are several companies still making pistols in that caliber (Beretta, Phoenix Arms, and Taurus come quickly to mind)

I carried a Bauer .25 religiously as my never leave home/work without a gun gun back in the mid/late 70's. Had a light custom IWB rough out holster I made for it. It was the most convenient, unobtrusive arm I've ever carried. Unfortunately, it was also just a .25 and I could never get it past about 95% max reliability. So when better came along, I moved on. Nonetheless, I sold it about 12 years ago and have regretted that ever since. I should have just parked it in my home office memorabilia collection that includes such things as a Post Versalog bamboo slide rule, a 1950s Arvin Radio, a circa 1971 4-function, LED calculator, etc.

The Baby Browning was always too tiny for my hand. The Walther TPH became my favorite .25acp. Well made and quite accurate.

Recently purchased a Beretta 950bs 25 acp. It is in very good shape, does not appear to have been carried or shot much at all.

At the range I fired a total of 18 rounds of fmj through it with zero malfunctions and it was suprisingly accurate.

The only problem was that tiny little hammer kept biting the web of my hand.

This is not a carry piece; just had to have it because the price was right and it's condition was very good.

I think the 950bs has the safety added. The 950 b had no safety if I'm not mistaken this was a late 60's change. 68 or 69. Really cool little pistol.

Yes mine has the safety.

It really feels good in the hand. Didn't think a pistol that small could feel right.

I had a baby Browning years ago. Never carried it and it never fed right. It got traded away to a collector. Later I had a Bauer copy which was 100% reliable but was the most inaccurate gun I have ever shot (and that's allowing for it's small size!) I traded it to my brother for something or other which was so unremarkable I can't even remember it. I wish I had it back now! There was one in the local gun store a couple of months ago for $295 but I decided that was too much.

I very much agree. My 950 Minx, .22 short, purchased new around '76 is one of a half dozen or less of my never sell under any circumstances guns. A fantastic short range, casual plinker. Also got to use it just last year to pick off an especially aggressive squirrel that insisted on running into the garage to chew through the dog food bin every time I turned my back on it.

I also had a .25 Jetfire version, but eventually gave it to my sister for a purse gun when I gave up on .25s If I hadn't had the Minx, I would have kept it.

Here is a photo of my wife's Beretta 950 BS that I purchase for my wife almost 30 years ago , she carried it for years before moving to a S&W 642. She wanted it so she could load and then **** it with out the need to cycle the slide. Good little gun and they were very popular with the ladies back then.

And did you see some of the fancy versions at thousands of dollars?! :2eek:

I wish I still had my PSP. I forget what I paid for it, but it was $100 and some change. About 100% and fired very little if at all when I got it. And you talk about a slide to frame fit? It was perfect!

I have wanted an early version Baby Browning since I was a kid. Never really searched for one, and the few I did run across were overpriced. A few years ago I got hornswagled into sending a (former) friend on another gun forum $175 for a really nice looking Baer that he had tweaked and also hand checkered the front strap. I was going to also pay the shipping fee and his ffl fee. In short, I lost $175 and any desire to do further business on blind trust.

I still want the Baer, but mostly for the novelty.

You know, I've always found the Colt Junior interesting because it is single action with a hammer, and has attractive wood grips.

For a great part of it's run (1958-68?) the Junior was a re-badged Astra Cub (http://www.coltautos.com/Junior_26cc.htm). I have a Cub. It's a very nice little pistol; accurate (does have tiny sights, but mine shoots to them) and reliable. I'd like to pick up it's mate in .22 short someday. In regards to actual use, I think these little guns were among the best .25 Autos ever made.

Yup, never thought this would get off the ground but it's flying well on it's own.

I made a set of grips for one of them Astra Cubs some years back, (wasn't real fun fitting around the mag release) I'm frantically trying to remember who I did them for. I know it was somebody local. Probably owes me money. The mind is a terrible thing to lose.
