My turn to make this post :) I'm a reserve deputy and bought me a new Kahr CW9 as my off duty carry.

Just got back from the range, only put 100 rounds through but it was absolutely 100% flawless. Very happy that I decided on a Kahr, fun little gun to shoot.

Welcome!

Sounds like you're off to a good start with your CW9, that's great!

So why the CW9? Reason I'm asking is because lately the CM9 seems to be the Kahr that most new posters have been buying.

Mostly that the CW9 has been out for a while and has a great reputation. Plus the CW is still plenty concealable.

Same here

also because it fit my hand better than any other small 9mm.

I also have the CW9 and have had it for 2 years--great gun with no problems. I also happen to live in Northern Calif. and would love the CM9 but it is not on the approved CA list. Being law enforcement you may have access--lucky guy.

I also live in Northern California and my ccw is a CW9. It is a great pistol and it has worked flawlessly for me. I would love to have a CM9, but as has already been said, it is not on the Ca. approved list. I contacted Kahr and they said that they did not plan to submit it for aproval in CA because after the costs of doing so, they would have to charge almost as much as a PM9. :(

One issue is the new CA requirements for indicators, safeties, and mag disconnects is a costly redesign. Of course the CA list requires renewals periodically and I anticipate they'll have to that for the PM9 then That's why I want the P45 SS before it expires off the list next February.

Put another ~75 rounds through it today, including some carry ammo (Winchester ranger 127 +p+ rounds)

Only one malfunction, a FTF (failure to feed) on what I believe was the 3rd round of the magazine, using FMJ ammo. Other than that it was fine. Is the 3rd round FTF an issue, or anything I did wrong perhaps?

Thinking back, I did have a couple of FTF during the first 200 rounds. No problems since.

We have heard of the 3rd round issue before. I think it is usually from a 7rd mag. My question is where did it hang up? E.g., was it a nose dive, pinched in the slide, or wedged with the nose sticking up in the chamber.

Also, remember the grease during break in. It's only to keep the slide running at full speed and essential to good feeds.

It looked as if the round was just sitting there waiting to be picked up but for whatever reason it wasn't when the slide went forward.

I'm heading to the range again on 10/10 so hopefully all will be well then.

I'll chime in as another new poster. I went with the cw9 because I wanted an easy to carry, slim 9. I dislike pocket carry, so there wasn't much difference between a cm9 or a cw9 when worn IWB or OWB. I don't like appendix carry either as I carry anywhere between the 3:00 and 4:30 positions. So the cw9 just made for a better solution for me. The extra capacity and full grip sold me.

Figured i'd just bump my old thread rather than make a new one..

Was doing some shooting yesterday and did some testing with topping off the magazine once you have loaded a round into the chamber. It would generally fail to feed when I did this (3 out of 4 times). The next round would just be sitting there waiting to be picked up.

Any ideas why that might be?

No one? Haven't had any failure to feeds other than when topping off the mag..

I'm one of those paranoid people that thinks fully loading up a magazine is bad voodoo for the shooter (probably just an old military habit that stuck with me)
I alway leave one round short in all my mags... for all my guns... rifle or pistol. I believe it makes a very tiny difference in feeding.
Can I prove it? NO.
Is it logical? Probibly not, but what the hell.... It works for me.

Pretty much same here. I think it's hard for bigger guys to pocket carry so I wanted a slim 9mm that I can IWB carry, and I can't stand have my hand hanging off the bottom of a grip. Full Grip is key! I pocket carry a snubby .38sp in the winter but only in a jacket pocket

I would rather have a P9 but the differences are negligible against the price. I picked up my CW9 slightly used at a good price and if I ever run across a P9 at a good price I'll pick it up and sell the CW (all my mags, and holsters will translate). In the meantime I carry and shoot the ever loving chit out of my CW9!

Well, unless the P9 was black with NS, and you really got to have those features, I'd stick with the CW9.

Kahr pistols have a 200 round break in period. If the issue continues past the break in period contact the Kahr Service Dept. Kahr pistols are built tight with fairly stiff springs, so the ammo that you are using could be the issue.

Well, unless the P9 was black with NS, and you really got to have those features, I'd stick with the CW9. Yeah, I'll only do it if I can pull it off with very little out of pocket cost. A P9 sold on a local gun board for $350 a few weeks ago, unfortunately I was 2nd to respond.
