My new CM9 was delivered Friday, and I shot a few rounds though it Saturday. I'm very please with the gun, and have to say it is very 'stiff' at this point..I fought to rack and lock the slide at first; very strong recoil spring. I loaded and shot 3 rounds to start, and the slide didn't lock back. I then went 1 round at a time for 3 rounds, and figured out it was me and not the gun. After that, the next two mags went 100%. Since I was shooting in a rural area but within the city limits, I stopped at that point not wanting to risk being arrested and loosing the gun to LE.

My only issue at this point is that the mag fits so tight, and the release is so stiff, that I have to work to get the mag out of the gun. I'd say it would be impossible to do a tactical reload in under 5 seconds. But under duress, it would be better to seek cover and attempt it than shoot the last round and be working the mag with the chamber empty and the BG closing in.

Congratulations on the new gun. There are a few threads on here about adjusting the magazines for a clean drop. I had to adjust all 3 of mine.

congrats on the purchase, the cm9 is a sweet little gun. take a pair of pliers and pinch the upper third of the magazine while it's fully loaded, from just below the feeder lip down to the third hole. that should allow it to drop free for you. enjoy your new gun and be safe.

Less than 100 rounds through mine. I did the pliers on full mag and it didn't help at all. It drops free with full mag because of the bullets weight, but empty I have physically tug on it.

BTW congrats on the new gun. I love mine.

The best way I've found to rack & lock and to slingshot the slide is the overhand method grasping the slide from the top with the weak hand and pushing the slide toward your armpit. You can lock it with the strong thumb.

For the slingshot, it's the same except you push the gun with your strong hand (toward the target of course) ripping the slide out of the weak hand as the slide hits the end of it's travel. Do not even attempt to hold the slide back and let it go as you will likely incur a fail to feed.

in addition to what oldlincoln said, keep constant upward pressure on the slide lock while you rack the slide to lock it back, don't wait until you think the slide is fully to the rear and try to push up. also, don't "ride" the slide forward but try adding some forward pressure after you slingshot to release the slide and chamber a round. i've found it helps out a bit as well.

just play around a bit with some snap caps and you'll figure out what works best for you.

Try with an empty mag. It took me quite a bit of force pinching it to get it to drop free.

Same issue with my then new PM9. The mag release and the mags dropping free have improved over time. You could try and if it works practice what I'll call a "slap drop". With your hands about a foot apart slap/drive your hands together. Weak hand open and on the bottom comes together with your gun hand. Palm of the weak hand meeting at the gun hand at the wrist. Trigger finger is of course indexed. God forbid in a real situation your non-gun hand is out action you can do the same by bringing your thigh up sharply to meet the gun hand wrist. All this is a good reason for having mags readily drop free on their own.

To do the squeeze thing, you need to push the follower down about half way and slip something like a straightened paperclip through the hole above it. That keeps it out of the way and allows the metal to bend with the pliers at the top. All you are doing is adjusting for the expansion of the mag with rounds pushing up against the lip forcing them apart somewhat.

Test what you are doing by loading the mag and racking a few rounds to make sure they feed. When I did mine, it fixed the problems and fed better than before. Sure wish they came that way.
