Any good suggestions - based on experience - on how my wife can carry her CM9 in each different situation below:
1) Purse carry (keeping it unavailable to outsiders if she leaves purse on chair and also kids)
2) Jogging
3) No purse and snug fitting jeans

Obviously no sense of adventure. I'll try the purse, maybe we can call it a European shoulder bag? I would like it to not clash with my daisy dukes though.

Heck I carry my wife's purse sometimes when she's using the cane. Hers is like a sack of nuts and forget ever finding a gun in there. It's a riot to see her when it's her turn to check out or check in and she isn't ready. I hear it all the time "I KNOW it's in here!".
Your question is a real paradox. How does one safely carry a gun in a purse and not leave it in the purse when she walks away? Answer, she doesn't. If she doesn't carry her purse with the strap over her head she shouldn't put the gun in it. I've gotten more dirty looks from women when I admonish them for leaving their purse in a shopping cart and walking 10 feet away to ponder some item for a few minutes. When someone finally does take it they'll scream "It's not MY fault!"
My DIL has a strap system that lets her carry her purse hands free. She can carry stuff and shop away and it's secure against her body in front. To get it they would have to knock her down and beat her first.
Don't know about the others except I'd like to see a nice shapely woman in super tight jeans with am IWB. I swear they must have a machine to get into those things and I figured out the reason the wear them cut so low is so they can breath. Bless their little hearts anyway.

I know they have purses with the "secret" compartment in the middle but not sure how well they really work.
Re: purse & kids: As I recall jocko recommends revolvers for women because they're easier to load & unload for women who have to be around kids. Semiautomatics of course you have to be able to rack the slide, unload the one in the chamber, reload the mag, rerack the slide when you're ready to leave, etc. Way more complex.
I think he makes a good point.
Despite that I'm still looking for a CM9 for my wife as a CCW gun, but our situation is different than most. First because we live in Maryland we rarely can carry - only when going out of state & she isn't around kids much in those rare instances. Our daughter is 12 now & knows how to handle firearms.
But in the general case I think jocko's advice sounds pretty good.

I was thinking of another answer... keeping you around as a bodyguard. :D
My wife and I can't and don't shop together... just don't look at the same stuff... and I have no patience to stand around while she reads every danged label about whether it's good or bad for her... since the first thing she'll do outside the store is light a cigarette!!

Yowie !... Anyway,My wife carries daily in her purse...she's tried an ankle holster and hated it...She's tried IWB,OWB and hated it...I told her to get a CCW handbag but she says she can't find one that looks nice...... So she carries in a ross pocket holster in her purse...She carries a S&W J frame...At this point I really don't care if she straps it to her head...At least she carries it everywhere which is all I really care about...I gave up a while ago...

super. My wife has one, not cheap but the gun is totally by itself in a little pouch and I defy you to even know she has a gun in that purse, it is not to big either. the sholder strap has a peace of webbed steel inside the leather coverng, so a BG cannot cut the purse and run with it. Very high quality and this purse works super.
Unfortunately I have found that women change purse like we change shorts, so after abgout 3 montyhs of carrying that purse it now sits in the closet, But those peoploe who make those purses I think knows their stuff, but they are not cheap. course neitehr are COACH purses. That type of purse beats the hhell out of the gun being in the purse with the rest of her junk to, no chance of a misfire either. If u wife can handle a cm9, GO FOR IT... do what ever it takes to make her feel good about carrying to, range time is good for her and you and it is ust another way of good marital bonding. I proablab y wold not be riding my Halrey as much as I do if my wife was not riding her Harley in front of me.
I am conservative as hell, so my question to you guys. Do u think I should take that no longer used gun purse of her out of the closet and CARRY IT MYSSELF:behindsofa:

Hayseed, my wife should be along shortly. I can tell you this much, I still have to watch her like a hawk with herCW45. She has a purse that she uses quite a bit (the pouch is dedicated and in the back), and she is getting better about not leaving her purse behind. I'm still working on her on body carry, she usually won't. As far as IWB in the tight jeans, well an ankle holster may be the best way to go for that. It can be done, but I haven't seen it. Some of that thunder wear or similar holster (CTD has a copy for about $20 if memory serves) might also work. I'm still working on a way to carry when I go for a run. I hate things that flop and bang when I run. Let me know what you figure out for that.

A jockstrap or close-fitting briefs works for me... usually I avoid running, though... been pretty successful, too.

At least for the winter, a boot holster may work for a small gun. If they won't carry a 9mm, try 380. If not 380 try .25. They may not hit as hard but they will bleed. Also they make the spray to clip on the purse strap. I don't know if that's a deterrent or not, but it may work. Point is anything is better than nothing.

Absolutely! Be sure to wear your Harley jacket as well. It will give the old f@rts at the next table something to talk about. :D
