Hey all, first post, new here and to Kahr's, but definitely been a fan and have always wanted one. Anyways...

Yesterday I purchased my first CW9. I own a glock 23 and conceal carry often, so the CW9 was purchased as a replacement, something much smaller and lighter. Today, i put 50 rounds down range. I had no failures to feed, fire, or eject, however...

I dropped the mag out of the gun several times while shooting. I know the slide release is sensitive, but I don't feel like I'm hitting it while shooting. Also, the slidelock often does not engage, so the gun cocks itself on an unloaded chamber after the last round.

Any input is appreciated, and I appologize in advance for being the n00b to bring up any worn out topics. Overall I love the gun, its everything I wish my glock was aesthetically, I just hope after the break in period some of the kinks can be worked out.

You may have an out-of-tolerance magazine catch. It sounds like the magazine is not being retained well and is not fully inserted. Upward pressure from the empty magazine is required for slide lock on empty, but it sounds like your magazine is loose or falling out. Try another magazine and really concentrate on staying away from the mag release button. Make sure you're really seating the magazine, too... try pulling it out after you think it's seated.

I use my left thumb to hold my right thumb down and away fron the slide lock release or the magazine release button.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

insert your magazine with a loaded magazine. NOW try to pull it out. if u can't then it is ur thumb hitting the mag button. Shooting the gun has no effect on the button releasing the magazine unless something is pushing in on the button. a vbery easy thing to check out.

If you can pull the magazine out wityh ease then the mag catch is more than likely out of spec or there is a burr on it and maybe just inserting the magazine and slamming it in place a few dozen time4s might take away that burr. iT IS A 5 MINUTE OPERQATION TO REPLACE THE MAG CATCH, SO NO NEED TO SEND IT BACK. THERE IS AN EXCELLENT pucture tutorial on this forum if u need to see how easy it is to do.

try shootingt it left handed so see if u can duplicate the same issue.:cheer2:

My guess is in agreement with the other posters. You are probably bumping the mag release and slide release. I was doing the same thing with my CW9 and the mag release, when first purchased. I cured the problem the same way wyntrout did by grasping my right thumb with the left while shooting.

I would go ahead and finish the 200 round break in before calling Kahr or replacing any parts. I bet your issues go away by slightly changing your grip.
