Hello,
I have a CM9 and also acquired the extended magazine model MK720. I think the magazine might be faulty and hope you guys can help me troubleshoot.
I did disassemble it and made sure it was put together correctly. When I load it with ammo and slide the magazine into the gun with the slide locked back, the magazine has about 1/4in to 1/2in of play in it. Also if I try to manually cycle rounds through the gun, I get a failure to feed every time.
When I put in the magazine that came with the gun, it clicks in there snug virtually no play at all, so it's weird how the other one isn't the same, all magazines are supposed to be snug like this one is correct?
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Thank you all for your help!

Dang! Never heard of that before. I assume that the play is front to back? Are you positive you are getting the mag catch engaged?

Welcome to the forum CS! Glad you're here.
Your extended mag should fit as does the mag that came with the gun. If you got the mag from Kahr I'd say email or call them. Note: you are more likely to get voice mail Monday AM than early afternoons. Others have said they do return calls so you can leave a call back.
Folks here have found ways to do a lot with mags, but I wouldn't have a clue how to tighten one. Well, some duct tape might "get'r done" but hardly recommended.

The play isn't really front to back. Imagine you are inserting the loaded magazine into the pistol, it "clicks" in, and then you try to pull on the magazine the opposite way, it's just doesn't get fully seated, it moves around. Or if you shake the gun up and down with the magazine in there, you can noticeably hear and see it moving around.
I called Kahr and the representative said it may just be a faulty magazine and I should send it back to them with a letter explaining what the situation is and they should send me a new one.
He didn't give me a return authorization number like he would have a pistol, should I just send it to the address below with a letter and my contact info and hope they send me a new one as per what the representative said:

I sent back a 7-round magazine. It doesn't need an RMA# or FFL involved or anything because it's just a magazine.
Unfortunately, I don't have the address that I sent it to anymore. I just searched my e-mail, but the reply from Kahr support has been deleted. Sorry.
I would think that a quick e-mail to service@kahr.com, or a phone call would get you the shipping address pronto.

I have the same issue, this is what they told me to do:
Good morning. I am sorry you are having an issue with your magazine. If you would like us to replace it, simply send the magazine in to us along with a note including your name, return address, and the issue.
We would be happy to replace your magazine and send a replacement to the address you provide. We can swap it for a six or seven round magazine. Please indicate your preference in the note.
Our address can be found on the back page of your owners manual. As this is a part and not a firearm, you do not need a return authorization number. I apologize for any inconvenience and I hope this answers your question.
sincerely,
Jay

send the magazine back and ask for a flush fit 6 round mag. 1/2" play sure sounds like a bad magazine.

I'm having trouble with 7 round mags for my CW45, and Kahr offered to replace them.
I can't believe I have 3 bad mags, so now they want the gun AND the mags. I want to check it out a little further before I send it all back to Kahr.

and does it do OK with the 6 round flush fit mag or do they act up also. If it is the extended mag, IMO, I hate those worthless ass magazines. They just seem to be so damn iffy as to proper functioning. If it was me and the gun was flawless with the flush fit mag, I would just ask for replacement for the flush fit and be done with it..

Just to add my bit to this thread I recently received a 7 rd mag from Kahr from the free promotion they are running. I have about 500 rds plus through the gun with my two 6 rd mags, no problems with those (though they did not like WWB 147 gr for some odd reason).
Then I tried that POS 7 rd last weekend, forget it! :86:
Every time I fired with this mag the second round out of the mag would get pulled forward by the top round, which caused it to press the slide catch and lock the slide back.
So I'm with jocko on this, sending mine back and asking for a 6 rounder...

You can use the 8-round extended grip magazine for a reload. I've had absolutely no problems with that mode in my PM9 or the K9.

I don't think it is the magazine as much as just a short mag well and then when we grip the gun we are torquing the magazine and then things happen. I hatedmy 7 round mag the day I took it out of the box, bet in 5 years of shooting my PM9 I have not run a half dozen 7 round mags through the gun.

Could someone humor me and tell me what the coil count is on the spring from their pistol's standard magazine and that from the spring of a +1 extended magazine?

Greg

Jocko, the two 6 round mags I have work great. I think maybe I'll send the 7 round mags back and see if they will exchange them for 6 round mags. I have a Chip McCormick 8 round mag that seems to work, so maybe I'll order some more of those.

6 round standard 14 coil
6 round 5% more strength (wolffs) 15 coil
7 round standard 16 coil.
surprised me GB. IMO I would cut one coil off the 16 coil 7 round mag and retest.. as we can see the 6 round mag can safely go from a 14 coil to a 15 coil with no effect to reliability. with the 76 round mag only gaiing one additional roun d ovber the 6 round mag,,,,WHY THE NEED FOR 2 COILS EXTRA
