So I was at the local shop today waiting to get my new S&W 686+ when I overheard a conversation between customer and employee. It went like this:
Customer: (pointing to box of federal .45) How much is that?
Employee: 22 dollars a box
Customer: if I buy in bulk do I get a discount?
Employee: sorry no because we already don't add anything to the price we pay for it, what do you usually pay?
Customer: 11 dollars a box.
I just laughed on the inside. Both of them just talking complete crap. CTD is 16 a box plus shipping and usually 18 at Walmart. This info is clearly readily available not really sure why they bother to just flat out lie. Anyway really looking forward to this new beauty tomorrow at the range. Happy shooting all!

Every time I go into a place that sells ammo, I'm reminded why I reload. :)
Oh that is funny! :D Amazing that the guy behind the counter was just as bad as the customer. Goes to show you.... You need to be a knowledgeable buyer!
Very nice 686!!! My son has one, although with a longer barrel, but a very good wheelgun! I do like my revolvers and the 686 is right up there in my list of favorites. We do have a couple of Ruger SP101's here at the homestead. WIfe and I each have our own.
Uuuuhhhh, I didn't see the Kahr in your collection??
As much as I like wheelguns, I also like my PM9. For a CCW, it is hard to beat!
So, ahhhh.... where is your kahr? :D

If he's like me, it's probably in his pocket where it spends most of its life.;)

I carried one of the "original" 686's on duty a couple of decades ago. Still have it and love it.

Hard to find the original 686 6 shooters lately. I have a guy here wanting one, I look from time to time and if you find one you better act quickly cause it won't last long.
Great guns. I think it's on my must have list too. Page 26, 27th from the top.
So many toys, so little time. (and money).

Nice Smith.
I just bought my third at the gun show last weekend (640-1).
Ordered XS Big Dot front sight, stainless steel trigger
and Eagle Black Onyx Secret Service grips.
A sweet professional action job and my new baby will be complete!
Life is good isn't it?

My favorite dumb gun store quote was a guy behind the counter telling a gentleman shopping for a CCW that he'd never buy a Kahr because "I wouldn't trust to my life to anything that doesn't run right out of the box."
My favorite dumb thing said at a gunstore:
"Just point a shotgun in the general direction, and you'll hit your target."
Riiiiiight. (assuming your choke has a five foot pattern at 10 feet!!!)

Was in Bass Pro Shop looking at pistols and observed this, There was a college age young lady and she was a tiny thing maybe 5 foot tall 95 lbs and she was talking to the counter guy and said she was thinking about buying a gun to carry in her purse for protection but didn't know anything about guns and had never shot anything and wanted some advice....
So what does wise guy bring out...A full size 1911 Kimber which was also the most expensive thing on the shelf...The young lady couldn't hardly pick it up much less operate it....The counter lizzard said it was much more safe to carry than a revolver because it had a safety...He never even brought out a snubby to show her and was pushing that $1200.00 Kimber real hard...
Thank God she said she would come back with her boy friend who knew something about guns and left...I decided to have some fun with the guy and started asking general questions to see what he would say...I asked if Sigs were any good and he said they had lots of problems and were poorly made (they didn't stock any full size Sigs) but suggested anything Glock because they were the best pistol made...(they had lots of them)...Had never heard of a Kahr...
I asked to see a Sig p238 .380 which was new to the market at that time and it was a nice little pistol but I said to the guy that I wouldn't feel comfortable pocket carrying a single action gun cocked and locked and he got this funny look on his face and said what does that mean and what is the difference between a single and double action semi auto pistol....I just smiled and said that a single action pistol can't be converted to full auto and walked away....Can you believe this guy is giving advise to people?...I guess the only qualification to work there as a gun salesman is having a heartbeat...
