Has anyone experienced failures to extract with the CM-9? On three occasions using Winchester Western White Box 115 gr FMJ ammo after firing about seventy rounds my CM-9 repeatedly failed to extract the spent case. Once the gun was cleaned the problem resolved itself.

I haven't read of many (any?) extraction problems here for the CM9.

Have you completely disassembled the slide and clean out the extractor? If not, do that. Check to make sure everything is correctly installed.

Next I'd call Kahr. They'll probably want your gun, but if you don't want to send it back, I would ask them for a new extractor and spring and the other two front and back extractor parts.

giveit some more rounds down range, things tend to shoot themselves in better. Have u used the kahr lube chart tha tis a stickly on the kahr tech secion. I really think your gun is OK, give it some more rounds to work itself in. ..

I talked to the people at Kahr and they are sending me a new recoil spring assembly. I'll try that fix before sending the gun back. I'll also try stripping the slide and cleaning the extractor. I've run about 210 rounds through the gun. It functions well until you run about 70 rounds through it and then the failures start to occur. This has happened three times. The spent case is left in the chamber and the slide does not return to full battery. After cleaning the gun it functions normally for about another seventy rounds. I've never heard of a Kahr pistol failing to extract. Leave it to me to discover a new problem.

just be careflul when taking that back plate off the slide as things start to fly. there is a nice photo tutorial in the kahr tech section that hould help u with that. I would for sure check over that extractor channel to see if everything is propper there. Not that this can have anything to do with ur issue but check to see if that outter recoil spring, the open end is moving up and down on the recoil outter tube freely. There should be no hindrance to this and if so, then it is that open end of the outter spring that is grabbing on that recoil rod. Just open up that end a tad and smooth that tip if possable.

Thanks, Jocko. I'll give that a try, too.

some people wen taking that back plate off have the entire slide and ones hands inside a nice big zip lock type bag. it willcatchg anything that flys.. especially that invisible spring under the striker block, drop that on the floor and u can kiss that spring good by..

I'm still waiting for the replacement recoil spring assembly. Jay said that it was sent UPS, but UPS has so far failed to deliver. Jay promised to sending another assembly tomorrow. This is my first experience with Kahr Arms and so far I'm not too impressed with the product or service. I will say that they have been quick to reply to my e-mail and have been courteous and apologetic.
