Anyone else use this?

I recently got re-introduced to this stuff and decided to give it a try, so far I really like it. Haven't had any issues and it's already starting to give a Teflon like finish to the barrel.

Just curious if anyone else is using it, and what your experience has been.

Side note: I did a photo shoot yesterday for a family and my shoes got really dusty - I just cleaned them with it as well, worked great. :)

I'm not sure i understand what a teflon finish looks like other than an actual teflon finish. is it black? or are you referring to that sparkle it has in the metal itself? if so almost all high end steel has that in it esp, high end high carbon steel. not sure if our barrels are (I'm referring to the cm series) is high carbon steel or inoxy steel?

Just means like a non-stick finish, it's very slippery even dry.

Hmmm, if I had a tiny sample I'd try it but don't know about the "never harden, never gum" part. Doesn't say that it drys completely leaving a dry lubricant behind that stands up to the heat and mechanical violence of a pistol.

I tried another sample that "didn't gum" but it collected lots of debris that did gum when mixed with it. Need a lubricant that uses the liquid as a suspension to carry lubricant into dark places then evaporates leaving only the lubricant behind.

I emailed the GunZilla guys and got a reply yesterday. Here's the entire exchange with replies in line:
=======
I've used and recommended Gunzilla (gz) for a while now and have a couple questions.

Your site states:

Gunzilla does not evaporate.

Gunzilla leaves a coating that once it is wiped dry is not effected by cold or hot temperatures. In the liquid form Gunzilla turns into a light grease.

Gunzilla leaves a thin, slippery coating for lubrication and protection which reduces the collection of sand, dust and carbon when the gun is fired.

When I apply gz and wipe it dry is a dry lubrication left behind? Yes, there is a dry coating left behind that provides lubrication and protection. This was specifically designed for combat conditions in a sand environment.

When I apply gz and leave it wet, as in dropping a drop into a spring assembly, it becomes a light grease? No, it remains liquid. It only turns into a light grease if the temperature goes below 29 F.

Doesn't that attract dust, etc.? No, because Gunzilla contains a zero ionic charge. Most particles have a plus or minus charge and they are attracted to particles with an opposite charge. Gunzilla has no charge so it doesn’t attract particles. All the petroleum based lubricants that we are aware of have an ionic charge that attracts particles.

The third statement "gx leaves a thin...": is that if left wet or is it if left dry? You can leave it wet or dry and it will provide lubrication and protection but it will provide more lubrication and better protection if it is left slightly moist. For use in this country we tell people to leave Gunzilla slightly moist (looks wet but is dry to the touch) on all moving parts. For long term storage you want to leave Gunzilla slightly moist. Because when it is left moist it will continue to work at getting fouling out of the pores of the metal. Once Gunzilla gets into the pores all the future cleanings will be quicker.

u have to underrstand by now that a " thread" doesn't always have to have a needle with it..

I thought when I first read this thread that the question was " If the earth rotates on it axis I wonder what kind of lube they use. Hence the birth of GUNZILLA. :86:

Ballistol is one of the tried and true gun products that have stood the test of time, such as Hoppes #9. I think it's been around for some 70 to 80 years. Heckler Koch at one time included a small sample of Ballistol with their guns.

Some folks complain about the smell, but it's mild compared to some others, IMO. The one and only fault I've ever noticed is that it doesn't get that irritating streaking out of my polygonal barrels as well as some other specialized cleaners. Other than that it is a good product. Ballistol is a decent rust inhibitor as well, perhaps not as effective as Eezox, but competent.

GREAT LINE, Jocko! :) I'm gonna have to borrow it for my sig line as I'm a very accomplished loose thread.

I've never used Ballistol. Is it sold as a cleaner or a lubricant or both?

If Hickok45 uses it I'm tempted to get some and give it a try. I still use good ole Hoppes #9 alot. I use M Pro 7 too when I have it.

I might just give it a try. How bad does it smell? Don't want to upset my sensitive ol factory ya know?

Smells like black licorice and bananas. Nothing Ben and Jerry will have any time soon.

Have never tried Ballistol but it sounds interesting kinda like Eezox...One product I have found to really work great on guns or anything else is called Maxfilm made by Royal Purple and I so far have only found it at O'Reilly's auto parts in the spray lube section but I'm sure you can order on line....This stuff goes on wet then becomes a dry super slick film...Guns love the stuff, give it a try....If I can find some Ballistol I'm going to give it a shot too....
